Exclusive: A Gifted Man Casts Frances Fisher As a Meddling Mom

As if she didn’t already give Rose an earful aboard the Titanic, Frances Fisher will again portray a domineering mother hellbent on forcing her child to make an impossible life decision when she guest-stars on CBS’ A Gifted Man (which currently airs Fridays at 8/7c).

In an early March episode of the freshman medical drama, Fisher will play Blanche, the overbearing mother of a photographer pal of Dr. Michael Holt’s. When Gene collapses at a gala, he is rushed to Holt Neuro with his new girlfriend, Trish, by his side. When Blanche then arrives at her son’s bedside, it marks not only her introduction to this Trish but also the first she has ever heard of the gal.

Ultimately, Blanche will force her son to choose between his momma and his new love.

CBS Tweaks Midseason Schedule, Moves Gifted Man an Hour Later Starting Mid-February

Fisher’s most recent TV credits include an October 2011 episode of CSI, Torchwood: Miracle Day and a Season 3 visit to Sons of Anarchy. On the big screen, her long resume includes of course the aforementioned Titanic, House of Sand and Fog and Unforgiven.

  • It would be nice if they would cast Rosemary Harris as Michael’s ex-mother-in-law. She’s already in New York, appearing with Carla Gugino and Jim Dale in The Road to Mecca, and I think her daughter has some connection to A Gifted Man. ;)
