Drop Dead Diva Boss Hopes to 'Reinvent' Kim Kardashian With Multi-Episode Acting Role...?

Reality starlet-slash-tabloid darling Kim Kardashian has landed a multi-episode role on Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva.

“This series is all about reinvention,” series creator Josh Berman told The Hollywood Reporter, “and I’m so excited to see Kim ‘reinvented’ in [our] world.”

According to THR, which broke the news, Kardashian will first appear in this summer’s Season 4 opener as Nikki, a love interest for Fred (Ben Feldman), who last year saw his heart broken by girlfriend Stacy (April Bowlby).

Adding another wrinkle to the complicated situation, Nikki is partners with Stacy in their new business venture.

Exclusive: Kim Kardashian Makes a Play For ABC’s Last Man Standing

Is Kardashian — whose sparse legit-TV credits include gigs on CSI: NY, How I Met Your Mother (where she played herself) and an upcoming Last Man Standing (again, as herself) — qualified to take on this recurring, actual acting assignment? “In discussing the role of Nikki with her, I’m blown away by her smarts, sense of humor and passion,” Berman said.

Drop Dead Diva is no stranger to controversial and/or showy stunt casting, oftentimes featuring reality-TV staples. Previous guest stars, after all, have included Bachelor Jake Pavelka, American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken, Rosie O’Donnell and Paula Abdul.

But is “kasting” a Kardashian too tacky a tactic for even this show? Will you tune in for (or despite) Kim’s appearance?

Get over it and just enjoy the show, people!

  3. Steven Leitner says:

This is for anyone who likes this show but doesn’t like Kim Kardashian. If you don’t watch this show just because she’s on it, the show’s ratings will drop and you will lose this show forever, so think hard before you decide not to watch this show.

I think Kim is really great on DDD – she and April Bowlby are pretty funny together! I am really enjoying the first two episodes anyway, although I keep crying at the end because it’s so sad! It was really touching to see the episode dedicated to Jackson Hurst’s mother, Judy. It was very fitting given the episode and it was a lovely photograph of their family.
