Chuck Flashback! We Spy 28 Fun Guest Stars

Get More: Finales, Photo Gallery

NBC’s Chuck may not have ever enjoyed a great wealth of viewers, but there’s one thing the soon-to-end spy comedy has always been rich in: fun guest stars, including those playing up their past geek cred or going 180-degrees against type.

It’d be near-impossible to recount every familiar face that has passed through the Buy More doors (sometimes in sexy slo-mo), tangled with Team Bartowski or earned the title of “Mom” or “Dad,” but we thought we’d get the Finale Week conversation started with 23 28 memorable drop-bys.

See who we singled out, then hit the Comments to share your own memories of Chuck‘s most special guests.

  • I know it wasn’t a big part, but the geek in me went nuts for Ben Browder (aka Farscape’s John Crighton/Stargate SG-1′s Cameron Mitchell) showing up as one of the kidnappers in last Friday’s episode.

Comment by Sara – January 24, 2012 12:12 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Agreed! I miss Browder! Would’ve been so epic if they had included more SG1/SGA people here and there.

  • I loved when Robert Englund was on as a scientist with a toxin that gave you nightmares. So brilliant!

Comment by Sarah – January 24, 2012 12:14 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Ooh, yes, Robert Englund was a fun bit of wink-wink casting (though that episode as a whole was a bit lame). He has been added!

Comment by Matt Webb Mitovich – January 24, 2012 12:24 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • I love that they catered to our inner geek with guests like Hamilton, Glau, Moss, Kreuk and Bakula. Those were my favorites though the others were all awesome, especially Tomothy Dalton. He was a scene stealer!

Comment by Ariel – January 24, 2012 12:16 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • There are a handful in there that are just a cut above the rest.

But I’d add in Fred Willard & Swoozie Kurtz, Christopher Lloyd, Jed Rees & Michael Rooker.

Comment by ivan – January 24, 2012 12:41 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Even though his role was brief, I loved the addition of Christopher Lloyd, i.e. Doc Brown. I think he played Chuck’s psychiatrist after some complications with the Intersect. I just remember loling when Chuck referred to him as Doc. :)

I will miss this show so much!

  • Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) in this season’s premiere! The guest stars kept me interested even in seasons when the story lagged.

  • Stan Lee and Mark Hamill also made small cameos this season!

Comment by Becca – January 24, 2012 12:57 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • There are few bigger Star Wars geeks than myself, but that Hamill cameo was a complete blink-and-you-missed-it throwaway. Could have been anybody.

Comment by Matt Webb Mitovich – January 24, 2012 01:10 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • Agreed. Although I highly enjoyed Stan Lee’s cameo especially with General Beckman.

  • Matt is my #1 for sure he is the reason I got hooked in the first place. I loved Casey’s old team Joel David Moore and Eric Roberts and there was one other guy but that episode was really fun, plus Lauren Cohen was amazing

  • What about Lou Ferrigno in Chuck vs the suitcase.
    and Rebecca Romijn.
…and many more. oh the male Greta (can’t remember the actor’s name)

Comment by Monty – January 24, 2012 01:20 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • These are some of the awesome actors Chuck were able to get for their show. My top three are 1)Matt Bomer 2) Scott Bakula and 3)Chevy Chase.

  • Rachel Bilson despite not being part of the bad guys but it was nice seing “Sarah” jealous of both chuckand lou. It’s really a shame when the networks cancel this kind of shows and put on it’s place series that we have had enough of seing them over and over again. It was a privillege to have watched this serie.

  • I’m not all that surprised that Kristin Kreuk got in the photos before Rachel Bilson’s Lou…we all know that Matt Mitovich is partial to one over the other haha. Though for “Chuck,” my preference is as always Lou! She was the only one of the PLIs that I liked. Well I liked Bryce he was good.

Of late though, there’s no one better and much more integrated than Carrie Anne Moss. She’s up there with Scott Bakula as THE best guest stars they’ve ever had, not just in terms of characters but also in terms of chemistry and fit.

  • PS: So glad they didn’t bring that Kayla girl into the series. It just would have been hard to buy how much he was into Sarah if he had this other girl too..Plus Sarah and Chuck were a perfect fit.

  • You forgot Olivia Munn as another one of the Gretas.

Comment by BoSoxFan73 – January 24, 2012 01:48 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • No, I simply singled out Summer Glau as the best of the Gretas (if you read the text).

Comment by Matt Webb Mitovich – January 24, 2012 03:27 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • Which she wasn’t. Not even the best actually-female Greta.

  • Matt Bomer is my number 1 favorite – but thank you to all the wonderful guest stars for making my favorite show even better. And I don’t want to forget the creators of the show, the writers, the cast, the crew, and anyone else who helped to put on such a great show. I will miss Chuck dearly. Looking forward to seeing that cutie Zachary Levi in other roles. Thank god for dvds!

  • You forgot Lou Ferigno, Stacy Keibler, The old Spice guy, Micheal Clark Duncan, Jenny McCarthy, Andy Richter…..And of course Stone Cold Steve Austin (I mean really Matt you can’t leave off the one villian that Chuck never defeated by himself even with the Intersect…lol.) But still very good list nice job :)

  • I remember Lou and Hannah, and loved both characters. I know most fans hated any Chuck love interest that wasn’t Sarah, but I found them to be a nice change. Also, considering how much Lana Lang annoyed me I was surprised at how much I liked Hannah.

Comment by Green_Tara – January 24, 2012 05:23 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Yessss, Robert. And a great Casey storyline to boot!

Comment by Samantha – January 24, 2012 07:03 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • And this is why another network should pick up “Chuck” and let it continue. The cheekiness of paying homage to 80′s pop culture, and, of course, the great niche of casting guest stars also from the 80′s make this show a classic. And more importantly, an easy sell. Personally, I think Laroquette’s Roan Montgomery was so good he should’ve had a recurring role.
