Chuck Flashback! We Spy 28 Fun Guest Stars

NBC’s Chuck may not have ever enjoyed a great wealth of viewers, but there’s one thing the soon-to-end spy comedy has always been rich in: fun guest stars, including those playing up their past geek cred or going 180-degrees against type.

It’d be near-impossible to recount every familiar face that has passed through the Buy More doors (sometimes in sexy slo-mo), tangled with Team Bartowski or earned the title of “Mom” or “Dad,” but we thought we’d get the Finale Week conversation started with 23 28 memorable drop-bys.

See who we singled out, then hit the Comments to share your own memories of Chuck‘s most special guests.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

  1. Lauren says:

    you guys forgot Dolph Lundgren!!!

  2. Sue says:

You forgot Stone Cold Steve Austin…Geesh!!!

  3. Shashwat says:

Nobody beats Timothy Dalton & Scott Bakula for me. I’ll miss CHUCK so much. One of the greatest ever.

  4. Dani says:

I’m gonna miss this show SO much! =/

  5. Shannon doherty says:

    Summer Glau? :D

    • Lauren says:

      Shannon…Summer is there she’s number 16

You also didn’t “include” (:)) Eric Roberts, Vinnie Jones and Robert Patrick.

  6. Toto says:

I don’t watch Chuck, but I’ll click on anything with a picture of Matt Bomer.

  7. Sara says:

I know it wasn’t a big part, but the geek in me went nuts for Ben Browder (aka Farscape’s John Crighton/Stargate SG-1’s Cameron Mitchell) showing up as one of the kidnappers in last Friday’s episode.

  8. Sarah says:

I loved when Robert Englund was on as a scientist with a toxin that gave you nightmares. So brilliant!

    • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

Ooh, yes, Robert Englund was a fun bit of wink-wink casting (though that episode as a whole was a bit lame). He has been added!

  9. Ariel says:

I love that they catered to our inner geek with guests like Hamilton, Glau, Moss, Kreuk and Bakula. Those were my favorites though the others were all awesome, especially Tomothy Dalton. He was a scene stealer!

  10. Ben says:

There are a handful in there that are just a cut above the rest.

But I’d add in Fred Willard & Swoozie Kurtz, Christopher Lloyd, Jed Rees & Michael Rooker.

  11. sara says:

    Scott Bakula!!

  12. ivan says:

for me is a great series! and I watched with passion

  13. Gina says:

Even though his role was brief, I loved the addition of Christopher Lloyd, i.e. Doc Brown. I think he played Chuck’s psychiatrist after some complications with the Intersect. I just remember loling when Chuck referred to him as Doc. :)

I will miss this show so much!

  14. Greg says:

Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) in this season’s premiere! The guest stars kept me interested even in seasons when the story lagged.

  15. Becca says:

(Puts on nerd glasses) The awesome Yveete Nicole Brown didn’t play a shopper but someone who worked for the Buy More according to the Buy More polo she was wearing.

  16. Becca says:

Stan Lee and Mark Hamill also made small cameos this season!

    • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

There are few bigger Star Wars geeks than myself, but that Hamill cameo was a complete blink-and-you-missed-it throwaway. Could have been anybody.

  17. RonKo says:

What about Jenny McCarthy in the suburbs?

  18. RonKo says:

And let’s not forget the huge part Bronson Pinchot (Perfect Strangers Balki) played. Oh wait, that ended up on the cutting room floor!

  19. Jason says:

Stacy Kiebler and the Old Spice guy.

  20. torontogirl98 says:

Matt is my #1 for sure he is the reason I got hooked in the first place. I loved Casey’s old team Joel David Moore and Eric Roberts and there was one other guy but that episode was really fun, plus Lauren Cohen was amazing

  21. Monty says:

What about Lou Ferrigno in Chuck vs the suitcase.
    and Rebecca Romijn.
…and many more. oh the male Greta (can’t remember the actor’s name)

  22. Jason A says:

These are some of the awesome actors Chuck were able to get for their show. My top three are 1)Matt Bomer 2) Scott Bakula and 3)Chevy Chase.

  23. Pedro Martins says:

Rachel Bilson despite not being part of the bad guys but it was nice seing “Sarah” jealous of both chuckand lou. It’s really a shame when the networks cancel this kind of shows and put on it’s place series that we have had enough of seing them over and over again. It was a privillege to have watched this serie.

  24. kevin says:

    What about Clare Carey?

  25. Gloria says:

I’m going to miss it so much…

  26. dan says:

you got Matthew Bomer but forgot Tim DeKay

  27. Jem says:

I’m not all that surprised that Kristin Kreuk got in the photos before Rachel Bilson’s Lou…we all know that Matt Mitovich is partial to one over the other haha. Though for “Chuck,” my preference is as always Lou! She was the only one of the PLIs that I liked. Well I liked Bryce he was good.

Of late though, there’s no one better and much more integrated than Carrie Anne Moss. She’s up there with Scott Bakula as THE best guest stars they’ve ever had, not just in terms of characters but also in terms of chemistry and fit.

  28. Josh says:

I honestly was shocked how well Nicole Richie did in her world in both the Reunion episode and then in the episode where they all had to work together.

  29. Julie says:

Wait, was Ray Wise on the list??? He was in season 4! TWIN PEAKSSSSSSS FTW

  30. Carl says:

What about the other “Doc”? Robert Picardo

  31. BoSoxFan73 says:

It’s spelled JAMES Bond, not Jamnes. #Yourewelcome #YesImThatGuy

  32. Josh says:

PS: So glad they didn’t bring that Kayla girl into the series. It just would have been hard to buy how much he was into Sarah if he had this other girl too..Plus Sarah and Chuck were a perfect fit.

  33. BoSoxFan73 says:

You forgot Olivia Munn as another one of the Gretas.

  34. Stacy Davis says:

Im going to really miss this show & the cast! It is a fun show with romance, adventure, mystery & suspense & IT Was Clean- my kids age 5 & 8 could watch it!! Probably why it’s going off!!! They take the best ones off! Love Zachary Levi- so cute!! Love the whole cast!!

  35. Colin says:

Michael Clarke Duncan in the season 2 opener was my favorite

    • bk8718 says:

Completely agree. For my money, best villain the show’s ever produced (not counting Volkoff who goes without saying)

  36. billy says:

    Ben Savage, ’nuff said.

  37. Kavya says:

Matt Bomer all the way <3

  38. karen says:

Matt Bomer is my number 1 favorite – but thank you to all the wonderful guest stars for making my favorite show even better. And I don’t want to forget the creators of the show, the writers, the cast, the crew, and anyone else who helped to put on such a great show. I will miss Chuck dearly. Looking forward to seeing that cutie Zachary Levi in other roles. Thank god for dvds!

  39. Susan says:

Thanks – it was fun looking at some of the old guest stars!

    • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

Glad you enjoyed! We may make one or two final additions, if time allows, but this is a mighty swell selection of almost 30 ;)

  40. linus says:

    where’s isaiah mustafa?

  41. Tater says:

You forgot Lou Ferigno, Stacy Keibler, The old Spice guy, Micheal Clark Duncan, Jenny McCarthy, Andy Richter…..And of course Stone Cold Steve Austin (I mean really Matt you can’t leave off the one villian that Chuck never defeated by himself even with the Intersect…lol.) But still very good list nice job :)

  42. Lacey says:

I remember Lou and Hannah, and loved both characters. I know most fans hated any Chuck love interest that wasn’t Sarah, but I found them to be a nice change. Also, considering how much Lana Lang annoyed me I was surprised at how much I liked Hannah.

  43. Justin says:

I’m really gonna miss this show!

  44. Loni says:

It’s finally getting real to me that Chuck is ending. This is so sad! I wish all the actors the very best and thank them for building a great community!

  45. Rob says:

You deserve a Stone Cold Stunner for leaving out The Texas Rattlesnake, Stone Cold Steve Austin.

  46. Crystal Butterworth says:

Scott Bakula, & Matt Bomer were my favorite guests! I will miss Chuck it is one of the best shows on tv. I hope to see all of the cast again soon!

  47. Joycee09 says:

Pretty amazing all the great guest stars Chuck had. I really enjoyed Matt Bomber, Timothy Dalton, Scott Bakula, Carrie-Ann Moss and the ladies of the C.A.T Squad. I’m going to miss this show!

  48. Green_Tara says:

    Hello….. Robert Patrick? Sheesh…..

  49. DN says:

And this is why another network should pick up “Chuck” and let it continue. The cheekiness of paying homage to 80’s pop culture, and, of course, the great niche of casting guest stars also from the 80’s make this show a classic. And more importantly, an easy sell. Personally, I think Laroquette’s Roan Montgomery was so good he should’ve had a recurring role.
