Glee Project Books Lea Michele as Guest Mentor

Time to Gleek out — Lea Michele will serve as a guest mentor in The Glee Project‘s Season 2 premiere.

Michele, who is the first of the show’s Season 2 guests to be revealed, broke the good news herself via Twitter over the weekend, but Oxygen officially made the announcement on Monday morning.

Glee stars were a regular fixture during Glee Project‘s first season. Among the McKinley High regulars who guest mentored the contestants were Darren Criss, Harry Shum Jr., Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale.

Season 2 of The Glee Project began filming this week in Los Angeles, and will air on Oxygen in Summer 2012.

  • Can her ego stand the possibility that some of them may be better actresses than she is?

    • Oh stop. She is very complementary of other people. Just cause she is confident and isn’t afraid to show it doesn’t mean she is all ego.

    • It’s not Lea’s ego we should be worried about, it’s Rachel Berry’s. Bitch is crazy.

      • Even Rachel isn’t that bad. Her over the top stuff is for comedic effect. In the end Rachel is a pretty caring person, a person who has reached out to many people even when they have hurt her.

  • And what are you basing this on? Do you dine with her on occasion? It makes no sense to be so hostile towards somebody that you don’t now and have no basis for making these judgments about.

    • He is basing it on what he pulled out of his own ass.

  • Lets see I have seen many past and present cast mates call her very professional and inspiring. Sounds like a good mentor to me.

  • She’ll be a great mentor she has tons of experience and is very supportive of her cast mates.

  • it is hilarious how people are alaways ready to hate lea michele when the people who works with her only have praises for this girl, yeah the cast of glee hates her so much that they spend their free time and hollydays with her.
    leave her alone people

  • Great choice. Getting the better actors and singers form the show to mentor them will help kick start the show. Also I love that she is a strong confident young woman who is proud of herself. So even though there are a lot of ignorant people out there she stays true herself. Go have fun on the red carpet and continue to work hard. You don’t have to apologize for being talented and driven.

    • Well said. It’s sad how many people confuse the character with the person. I guess that just shows how talented she is. Rachel is outwardly self-centered and over the top because she’s hiding some very deep insecurities. Lea, as a person, has probably had all of those insecurities at one time or another (most performers do) but has worked through them but knows how to channel them into Rachel’s character. If you’re going to hate, hate Rachel (even though she doesn’t really deserve it either), not Lea.

And as several have already said, her cast mates have nothing but good to say about her. The Official Glee YouTube channel posted a really nice video last week of Amber Reilly talking about Lea and what an inspiration she is.

  • That’s all fine, but I wanted the bromance that is Dameron to be the inaugural judges of Season 2.

  • This is a good sign. I loved the first season but they clearly couldn’t book Glee’s best to mentor them. The biggest name they got was Darren Criss. I mean, I love Bieste and all but Dot and Idina Menzel? Seriously?

  • I don’t know why anyone would assume she is self centered or has a huge ego, I’ve seen some interviews and she seems perfectly fine to me, grounded even. Plus she’s really good friends with everyone in the cast… you can tell they all like each other and hang out even when not on the set.. I don’t think anyone would wanna be friends with her if she was a self important “diva”.

  • Please Lea is confident and a bit big and bold. So tired of confident women being labeled bitches or divas., while men are applauded for the same. Keep doing what you are doing Lea. I guess I’ll have to watch at least one epsidoe of the glee project.

Kids are lucky to have such a mentor as Lea.
