Pilot Scoop: Anne Heche to Headline NBC's Spiritual Comedy Save Me

Anne Heche is taking her career in a very meta direction, signing on to produce and star in the spiritually tinged NBC comedy pilot Save Me.

As first reported by our sister site Deadline.com, the Men in Trees actress will play a woman who, after an accident, believes she is channeling God.

Heche, of course, famously recounted her history with mental illness — including having an alter ego named Celestia whom she believed was the reincarnation of God — in her 2003 memoir, Call Me Crazy.

Heche is coming off of a three-year run on HBO’s Hung.

Great now I have Smallville’s theme song in my head “Save Me” :P

  2. Mark says:

Was one of her alter egos a lesbian too?

  3. Cakesandfun says:

So NBC is just starting to copy other shows from now on, or make terrible shows like Whitney and Chelsea. This is a show with a plot i have seen in a least 4-5 other shows. Nice NBC, you shelf Community and air garbage like Chelsea and Whitney…

  4. lipsticksocialism says:

i will probably give this a shot. awesome!

  5. John Hilla says:

How many shows before it’s canceled. I vote 3, like everything else with controversy this one will make a brief headline and then will fissile out. But don’t worry something new will come and take it’s place or if all goes to fail. AN emergency action will cause Classic NBC to activate and re-run all of Friends until a suitable replacement can be found.

  6. Josh says:

ABC already made this show, it was called “Eli Stone.”

  7. Michael says:

I don’t know why but that description made me laugh. In any case, it’s a shame Hung was cancelled. This last season was their best by far.

  8. Is Hung a thing of the past? Suddenly Ray and his attribute were gone even before we got to fantasize properly about Jason.

  9. Michael Thomas Angelo says:

Yes, I loathe that insipid one note Whitney and her inside joke that is Chelsea who plays her own older sister? Really, has it come to that? It’s worse than Two Broke Girls because these gals should be soon.
