Of the four scripted winter premieres this Thursday night, Grey’s Anatomy returned to the biggest uptick, inching up 7 percent in total viewers from its fall finale (to 12.04 million) and netting a 10 percent bump in the 18-to-49 demo (hitting a night-leading 4.5).

Lead-out Private Practice (7.82 mil/2.8) drew a few more eyeballs than its own fall capper, and was up 8 percent in the demo. That said, it was bested by a Mentalist repeat (9.2 mil) in total audience.
