The TVLine-Up: TV Worth Watching Wednesday

On TV this Wednesday: Modern Family‘s Phil prematurely says his goodbyes, Ken Marino parties down on Happy Endings and a gun-toting guest crashes Daniel’s birthday dinner on Revenge. Here are nine shows to keep on your radar.

(Check local listings) The Price Is Right (CBS) | As Celebrity Week continues, How I Met Your Mother‘s Neil Patrick Harris stops by to help a lucky lady (and a charity) win big. Unfortunately, his TV faux-dad, Bob Barker, won’t be there to help him.

8 pm I Get That a Lot (CBS) | On this latest installment of the recurring special, NCIS fave Pauley Perrette tries to pass herself off as a dog groomer, while Ty Pennington poses as a hardware store staffer — even yelling through a megaphone to prove that he’s not that Extreme guy!

8 pm The Middle (ABC) | After realizing that no one keeps their New Year’s resolutions, Frankie decides to assign anonymous ones to each family member.

8:30 pm Suburgatory (ABC) | When Tessa gets her license, Dalia hires her to drive her around to stalk her crush, Scott Strauss; George and Noah’s relationship is put to the test when George decides to join the local country club.

9 pm Modern Family (ABC) | After missing the doctor’s call with his test results, Phil jumps to conclusions and starts saying his goodbyes; Javier (guest star Benjamin Bratt) pops up unannounced to take Manny out for a belated birthday celebration.

9:30 pm Happy Endings (ABC) | Dave has an odd reaction when his shrink (Ken Marino, Party Down) starts dating Penny; after squabbling over ownership of a sweater, Jane and Max compete to see who can wear a horribly unflattering outfit the longest.

Hot in Cleveland Exclusive: Liza Minnelli Cast as [Spoiler Alert]!

10 pm Revenge (ABC) | An unwelcome and unstable visitor makes a nightmare of Daniel’s birthday celebration; Charlotte becomes a pawn in Conrad and Victoria’s divorce battle; Emily watches her ultimate plan begin to unravel. (Watch the first nine minutes here, and read our in-depth preview.)

10 pm Hot in Cleveland (TV Land) | Flash back to the series of events that led to Melanie, Joy and Victoria first meeting on the rooftop of an L.A. hotel. And word has it that when we find out what Elka (Betty White) was up to in the ‘80s,  it may look a bit familiar….

10:30 pm The Exes (TV Land) | Phil, Stuart and Haskell must trade apartments with Holly when her mother (guest star Judith Light) comes for a visit. Why? She never told Mom that her engagement ended.

  1. Ems says:

Not that I don’t LOVE Benjamin Bratt, but he’s not disfunctional enough to be Manny’s dad! Still should be good though, can’t wait to see Phil jumping to conclusions :)

    • rowan says:

What do you mean “not dysfunctional enough”? He’s a gambler and a daredevil who never supported his family. He doesn’t pay child support, he doesn’t show up when he says he’s going to. He’s completely unreliable as a father. Unless you think “dysfunctional” means “ugly”, then I’d agree. He is a pretty, pretty man.

  2. Bobbi says:

    You missed Top Chef!

  3. Dennis says:

  12. intelliwoman says:

What a waste. Until a new Criminal Minds is on Wednesday night with the “comedy” crap is nothing but mindless drivel for brain dead morons.

  13. em says:

Thank goodness Suburgatory and MF are back. ABC’s lineup last night was terrible.

  15. CBS fan says:

Modern family is the only show I watch on this list. Abc is in a slump, their ratings falling to CBS and even NBC. Better year then they thought, but ever since lost left, they have no big dramas and they keep getting hit with bad timing and cancelled shows

  16. Erika says:

Last night was such a wash for me.

    Modern Family 8
    Happy Endings 8:30
    Top Chef 9
