Ratings: CBS Dominates With Fresh Monday Fare, Bachelor Ben Not So Big

Get More: News, Premieres, Ratings

CBS refused to be Bowl’d over by ESPN’s college football coverage and handily topped its Monday broadcast rivals in both total viewers and in the coveted 18-49 demo. Meanwhile, ABC’s Bachelor Ben looked to be a bit soft compared to the dating show’s previous cycle.

Going hour-by-hour, here’s what we’ve got:

8 pm | How I Met Your Mother, with 10.22 million total viewers and a 3.9 rating, was down 13 percent from its especially high fall finale, while 2 Broke Girls (12 mil/4.3) inched up a bit in the demo versus its last fresh outing. The Bachelor premiere (7.74 mil/2.4) fell 13 and 17 percent from a year ago, and NBC’s Who’s Still Standing? (5.6 mil/1.5) held steady.

Mike & Molly led out of that with 11.9 mil and a 3.8. Fear Factor matched the back half of The Bachelor in the demo, holding steady with a 2.5 rating while dipping a bit to 5.9 million total viewers.

10 pm | Hawaii Five-0 trounced all comers with 11.7 million viewers and a 2.9 rating, up 7 and 4 percent from its last fresh eppy. ABC’s Celebrity Wife Swap sneak peek’d to 6.3 mil and a 2.4 rating. NBC’s Rock Center placed a distant third with 3.85 mil and a 1.2 rating.

    • Yup! For once I’m more excited to see the ratings for cable network (specifically ABC Family for PLL and TLG).

      • As the ratings report regulars know, cable numbers come in much later — sometimes at least a whole 24 hours later. ABCF knows to gimme a holler the instant they have something to share ;)

  • Hawaii Five-O still rolling and if people may have missed last night’s WWE Raw Supershow, it was the return of Y2J Chris Jericho.

  • Hawaii got a 2.9. not a 3. Honestly I was hoping for more, after all it was the only scripted show at that time, no Castle and nothing on NBC and it got a huge lead in from Mike&Molly. For whatever reason Hawaii always drops a lot from the comedies.Pretty bad.Never a good sign such a huge drop.

  • I don’t think the Hawaii Five-0 drop is such a big deal, as long as it is competing with other shows in its time block. I think it even managed to out do a new Castle a few weeks ago.

  • When will ABC stop casting the Bachelor losers? This guy is single and lives in the middle of nowhere so he’s not exactly a “bachelor” who has a lot of options.

Can’t they find a guy who’s a genuine bachelor looking to marry and not just a reality tv runner-up? He came in second place for a reason.

  • I love Hawaii Five 0! Hope it is around for a long time! I need my weekly Alex O’loughlin fix!
I was going to watch the Bachelor as I liked Ben on Ashley’s season of the Bachelorette but once I found out who he chose I almost got sick so I decided to not waste my time…

  • Cbs comedies are really doing amazing, but what’s up with Hawaii five-0.?? CBS really drops at 10 pm in the demo, seems like after Mike&Molly all the old folks stay but a lot of young viewers go away. I think it should be a concern for CBS, they are able to keep the young viewers for 2 hours, but they lose a lot the moment Hawaii starts.
