  1. joe bloggs says:

that’s right glee, surround the lesbian with men and have her flirt with them. Well done. Would they surround Kurt with girls and have him flirt with them?

    • Eddie says:

Yeah…. it makes her character not feel genuine. At least they removed this from the episode, maybe for that reason.

      • Anissa says:

Agreed. Last Christmas this would have made sense, but not since she came out…

      • Captain says:

How is this out of character for Santana? She uses her charms to get what she wants, this is EXACTLY in character for her. Just because she’s a lesbian doesn’t mean she’s above flirting. I have friends who are lesbians and none of them see anything wrong with some harmless flirting with men. Maybe you guys shouldn’t just assume you know how a lesbian woman should act.

        • John says:

Diamonds being a girl’s best friend and all: “orientation” not specified or required. lol

          • joe bloggs says:

yeah but wouldn’t it have been better to actually have the song be Diamonds are a girls best friend rather than Santa baby which has a few minor references to jewels? Plus it makes no sense to have Santana go shopping with Finn, they’ve played that whole relationship badly.

And he never once apologised for outing her in a high school hallway.

          • Leo says:

You forgot the part when Finn serenade her with “Girls Just Want To Have Fun”? You forgot the part when they both hug it out in “We Are Young”?
God, I love myself some “Finntana” scene!

          • Michelle says:

And she never apologized for all the abuse and bullying she put everyone through and she continues to be a bully and fans continue to think her bullying and homophobic remarks are funny because Santana always gets away with everything.

        • Monkeyrat says:

IA with you Captain… except that, you know, usually these lesbians (like myself, I’m the flirty kind if I need to) don’t have to hug when everyone else kiss. Or have a kiss on the cheek. Or basically any form of PDA that is not holding hands because yeah, they’re a freakin’ COUPLE, not besties.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Santana do that if only Brittana (or another lesbian pairing, I don’t care) was taken seriously and if it weren’t to help the guy who outed her choose a gift for HIS girlfriend.

Let’s take the exact same scene but this time we saw Brittana kiss before, and let’s say they also TALK to each other because it’s ridiculous right now. And instead of Finn, she’s helping Artie, or Mike, or Puck, or Sam or even Rory, I don’t even care. But having the lesbian character, who’s in a relationship that looks like a joke, helping out the guy responsible for forcing her out of the closet? Yeah, right, makes a lot of sense.

She’s not OCC, that’s absolutely right, but the context is terribly wrong. I would totally second your comment and how you see her character doing that kind of things if only the show did take Santana’s sexual orientation seriously (real relationship portrayal included).

    • Cloudy Knight says:

They could if they wanted to. It’s a TV show, they can pretty much do what they want. And why would that be so bad, anyway?

    • Matt says:

Further proof that making Santana a lesbian was pandering to a specific demographic/fanbase. She never should have been a lesbian. It doesn’t fit into her behavior in Season 1’s F12 (I’m not including Sectionals because that is when all of this stupid mess started)

      • Captain says:

She was barely a character in Season 1. She was essentially a walking punchline. It wasn’t until Season 2 that they actually decided to flesh out her character. Even in early S2 she’s pretty one-dimensional.

      • Melly says:

Uhm, but in S2 she says she’s attracted to boys and girls. Also, I have seen very many lesbians flirt with guys and straight girls flirt with lesbians. Being more attracted to one side of the sex spectrum or the other doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate the other side. I think it’s stupid and narrow minded and just ignorant to suggest such a thing. The constant need to fit people into tiny little holes so we can “properly label” them is increasingly judgmental and doesn’t allow people to be seen for who they really are.
My problem from this whole Santana story line, is them deciding that she is full out a lesbian when clearly she was having just as much time getting down with Puck the way she was with Britney. So, pay attention to the way you have written your characters, or just…let them sing and leave them alone…stop pushing things.

      • Whaa says:

Let’s not forget that Santana is in high school. A lot of gay people date the opposite sex because they’re trying to figure it out and prove themselves wrong. A lot of people don’t even come out until after high school, which usually means a lot of pretending to be heterosexual. So I wouldn’t say it doesn’t fit her behavior. In high school I dated guys and I was a cheerleader and no one knew I was gay.

    • Dom says:

First, I love love love this! I wish it had been in the episode. Second, I don’t really see the issue with Santana being surrounded by men. This is Santana doing what she always does… using her flirting skills and sexuality to manipulate people into doing what she wants. In this case, it’s a bunch of male jewelry store employees draping her in jewelry. Being attracted to women doesn’t mean she’s going to stop using her assets to her benefit.

    • Will says:

Which helps possibly explain why it wasn’t actually in the episode, so give them a break. They didn’t include it in the episode.

    • KevyB says:

How about we don’t all jump to conclusions without some context? It looks to me like she’s flirting with the salesman to get Finn a good deal. It’s not like she’s about to start a g-b!

  2. Jess says:

They should have kept the Santana scene. Could have cut a bunch of other stuff to keep that one in. Tragic waste.

  3. Sarah says:

I’m sad they cut this! Naya Rivera has become one of my favorites on this show and I was really glad when they gave her more lead vocals with The Trouble Tones.

  4. Amanda says:

“Hi, Santana, you’re a total wretch to me and my girlfriend so you should obviously help me pick out a Christmas gift for my Jewish girlfriend. cue up your pointless solo song!”

    • Captain says:

And now we know why it was cut. I adore Naya and Santana is my favourite but this was a pointless number which is why it was probably cut.

  5. Ellen says:

Thanks for posting the ‘Santa Baby’ missing clip from Glee! I would have loved to see that scene in the episode – looks like Santana was helping Finn get a good deal on those earrings for Rachel! I love seeing Santana’s softer side… almost as much as I love that silky voice!! :o) Thanks again.

  6. may says:

Love Naya and her performance but..
Santana hasn’t spoken to Brittany in ages, and instead of filming them interact, they film more Finn/Santana bonding. This whole Finn/Santana BFF story is annoying.

  7. brett says:

First, they ruined the song by rushing it as compared to the original (as did Madonna). Instead of slow and oozing sexuality, it’s corny and “boopty-boo” Betty Boop.

TOTALLY agree that it doesn’t stay true to the character in this scene, after having made such a big deal about “coming out”. They could just as easily have gone for all female jewelry store workers.

FINALLY, the presentation of the jewelry to Rachel as a surprise to her and to us the viewers worked much better than seeing Finn go and buy it with Rachel’s nemesis (and one of Finn’s exes!).

Interesting to see it now, but glad it wasn’t in the original.

    • Lyria says:

Agreed. Naya looks and sounds amazing as usual, but this is a terrible version of the song and the scene makes NO sense for characters or plot. Not that we should expect that from this show, but still. I’m glad it was cut. Gonna go listen to Eartha Kitt now.

  8. Lynne S. says:

So will they now release the Kurt/Blaine gift scene?

  9. Tee says:

I read the other day that amazon had Pan-Am for free too, but not sure if that’s still the case.

  10. dee says:

What did Finn do with her coat??? Would have been funnier if he was looking around all befuddled while still holding her coat.

  11. Lyza says:

Awesome video. Now find the Klaine one. :)

  12. Drew says:

Eventually, she reached a point of diminishing returns on the sexiness.

(YouTube Annie’s Christmas song from Community. Makes fun of Glee for all the right reasons)

I hate Glee, but can sometimes enjoy the performances of a talented cast. Unfortunately, this was not a great performance. It tried to be sexy, but wasn’t. And “an outer-space convertible” would probably be a bad, bad idea. Saying “A ’54 convertible” is not dated. Those cars were awesome!

  13. Liz says:

    She looks like Kim Kardashian

  14. Melanie Yo says:

anyone have this on youtube for all regions please?

  15. STW says:

Wish we could have seen the whole scene; the song was fine, but losing the story that the song is supposed to be conveying, both immediately for the “getting things v. giving” theme of that episode and for the long-term Finn/Santana friendship they are developing (or were on track for developing before a small, loud, angry group of fans starting twitter-screaming at the writers every week bcs they dared to write their own show rather than to film a fan-approved fan-fiction for Santana’s story). I know they cut this, and lots of stuff, for the sake of time in order to show every single instant of the black & white stuff, but I bet this was an easy cut for them in the hopes of staving off more abuse from that small group of fans; didn’t work, as it turns out, because they just got angry that Santana was cut, and now are angry that Santana is doing what she always does–using her power to get what she wants.

I seriously hope the writers keep on with their original plan of creating relationships between Finn & Santana and Rachel & Santana in preparation for what these fantastic characters, played by three of the best actors on the show, are doing next year.

    • STW says:

*Meant to say “losing the story that the song is supposed to be conveying is a huge loss,” both for the episode and the arc of the show.

  16. babygate says:

I wasn’t very impressed with Santa Baby. The vocals are great but the choreography is lack luster. But it was still better than the songs that Roy and Rachel sang. The editors made the wrong choice…

  17. Amanda says:

I’m going to head in a totally different direction than every other post (except for one), and say “hooray!” for Pan Am for free on iTunes. I love this show, and can’t wait until it returns!

  18. Fido says:

Though I am a big fan of Santana and her voice, I must say that her Santa Baby sounds (like many-many of the other Glee songs) bland. It’s as if she just singing it straight without adding any additional umph, any personality, any zingness to it. Missed opportunity I say. :(

  19. shawn says:

people stop taking glee so seriously, its an over the top show and thats the charm of it. also if you actually pay attention the line of the song “think of all the boys i haven’t kissed” she pushes the guys away from her. if anything this song is almost like old santana using her looks to get her way instead of being sad and bitchy. i dont necessarily love that the made her gay all of a sudden but its nice seeing a lesbian portrayed in a non stereotypical way
