Exclusive First Look: Charisma Carpenter Plays a Sexy Lying Game With Adrian Pasdar

ABC Family’s addictive The Lying Game resumes its freshman run on Monday, Jan. 2 at 9/8c, and with it comes the addition of beloved Whedonverse alumna Charisma Carpenter as Char’s mysterious aunt Rebecca Sewell, whose sudden return to town rattles the über-secretive Ted and Alec — and TVLine has your exclusive first look at the lovely lady in action opposite Adrian Pasdar.

No word on what Rebecca’s agenda is — or whether her slight resemblance to Sutton and Emma could be a plot point — but expect to see her and Alec to take an interest in one another pretty early on.

“She comes on as a foxy lady and stirs up some trouble,” series lead Alexandra Chando told TVLine’s Inside Line earlier this month. “She definitely has a past with Alec and Ted (played by Andy Buckley), and that’s revealed as soon as she sees both of them.”

  • Wasn’t her name supposed to be Annie Sewell? That’s what the past spoilers on this website and what the show had originally said.

      • Thanks for clarifying. I actually just saw the sneak peek where it says that she will be going by her middle name, Rebecca.

  • Hmm, we know that Char’s mom is Annie Hobb’s sister. If Charisma’s character is related to Char on her mom’s side too, then she could be the aunt of Sutton and Emma. That would make sense since she looks a lot like them.

    • No, actually Char’s mom is Annie Sewell’s sister. Annie Hobb (as far as we know yet) doesn’t have any relationship to any of the other characters.

  • Looking forward to this show returning. Can’t wait to see Charisma on it. Weird enough, I have always said that the lead looks like her a lot at certain moments on this show. So far, nobody has really agreed, though…

    • Physically, she certainly does, but a lot of her facial expressions and stuff also remind me of Sarah Michelle Gellar. It’s like Buffy and Cordelia had a mystical love-hate child.

  • Oh-em-gee, are you sure they’re not blood-related!? Mother and daughter in real life? Other than that, it’s creepy.

  • She is still so hot. Cordelia does not age.
