TVLine Items: MTV Brings Back Punk'd, Live! With Kelly's Sporty Guest Hosts and More!

Get those trucker hats ready: MTV is reviving Punk’d!

Ashton Kutcher — the mastermind behind the original hidden-camera prank series – is back on board as an executive producer, but for Two and a Half very obvious reasons, will no longer serve as host. No word yet on who’ll replace him, but an announcement is expected during the cabler’s live New Year’s Eve special.

Ready for more of today’s TV dish? Well…

• Even more Live! With Kelly guest co-hosts are on the way. The week of Jan. 9 will feature sports-based fill-ins including NFL star Reggie Bush, NASCAR’s Carl Edwards, sportscaster Boomer Esiason, college football analyst Jesse Palmer and speedskating champ Apolo Anton Ohno.

• NBC has purchased a dramedy pilot to be exec-produced by Law & Order: SVU‘s Mariska Hargitay, Deadline reports. The potential series, titled American Dream, is 30 Rock-esque and will give a behind-the-scenes look at the “inner workings” of reality TV.

• Season 7 of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Orange County is set to premiere Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 9/8c.

• Matthew Del Negro (United States of Tara) has landed a recurring gig on The CW’s Ringer, reports, playing the cocky new FBI agent we told you about earlier this month.

• TLC has ordered an Extreme Couponing spinoff, titled Extreme Cheapskates, which will feature people who go to outlandish, um, extremes to save money.

• Syfy has renewed its docu-series Paranormal Witness for a 12-episode second season, slated to premiere in August 2012.

  • Actually, the original hidden camera prank series was Allen Funt’s Candid Camera.

  • I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Jesse Palmer ends up with that gig, permanently, down the road.
