The TVLine-Up: TV Worth Watching This Friday

On TV this Friday: A Romijn event on Chuck, a Remains event on Chiller, more comical life and times for HBO’s Tim, Grimm lets down its hair and more. We’ve singled out nine programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC) | Now that the end of its nine-season weekly run has been announced, it may be time to load up on the feel-good fuzzies. This week the team travels to Columbus, Ohio to help Grandpa James and Grandma Jackie Rhodes, who live with their adult daughter — diagnosed with a potentially fatal brain tumor — and her kids in a 941-square ft. home.

8 pm Chuck (NBC) | In “Chuck vs. The Curse,” Chuck and Sarah fight a deadly computer virus while Ellie and Awesome unwittingly become spies for a night. Rebecca Romijn (Eastwick) guest-stars.

8 pm Stephen King’s Bag of Bones (A&E) | In case you missed it earlier this week and are looking for four straight hours of frights, here are Parts 1 and 2 back-to-back.

9 pm The Life & Times of Tim (HBO) | Season 3 premiere: Tim becomes an assistant to a women’s professional basketball player; Tim decides to go for a job interview haircut.

9 pm Grimm (NBC) | Rapunzel gets a Grimm spin when a mysterious homicide deep in the woods leads Nick and Hank to reopen a long-aborted missing persons case. (Watch video sneak peek.)

9 pm The Take (Encore) | In Part 3 of this four-part adaptation of the Martina Cole crime thriller, nobody is safe when Ozzy (Brian Cox) is attacked in prison. Freddie (Tom Hardy) and Jimmy (Shaun Evans) reach a breaking point and decide to settle the score once and for all.

10 pm Steve Niles’ Remains (Chiller, pictured above) | Based on the graphic novel written by Niles (30 Days of Night) and illustrated by Kieron Dwyer, this TV-movie is set in post-apocalyptic Reno, Nevada and follows the survivors of a bizarre accident that reduced most of the world’s population to zombies. Cast includes Grant Bowler (True Blood), Lance Reddick (Fringe), Miko Hughes (Pet Sematary) and Tawny Cypress (Heroes).

10 pm Sanctuary (Syfy) | In search of a legendary Abnormal, Magnus and Will are trapped by a cave-in.

10 pm Special Edition of 20/20 With Diane Sawyer (ABC) | Every 90 seconds, a woman dies during pregnancy or childbirth – and experts say that more than 80 percent of these deaths are preventable if only the mothers-to-be received proper medical care. Diane Sawyer and a team of correspondents report on the challenges faced by mothers in developing countries, as well as on low-cost, low-tech solutions that can help save millions of lives.

CHUCK continues to have my Friday night fix and it’s so sad when news broke out on the cancellation of EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION since it got move from Sunday nights but it won’t be long until its final episode on January 13th now that SHARK TANK takes over and it won’t debut its new season on January 20th.
