FX Renews The League for Fourth Season

FX has renewed its fantasy football comedy, The League, for a 13-episode fourth season.

In a statement Tuesday, FX’s Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Nick Grad, said, “The League continues to be one of our most successful comedy series both creatively and from a ratings standpoint. [Creators] Jackie and Jeff Schaffer, along with our terrific cast, are doing wonderful work each week to make one of the funniest shows on television, and we’re excited to order another season.”

The League – which stars Paul Scheer and Nick Kroll, among others, as old friends in a fantasy sports league — is currently in the midst of its third season, and has welcomed a slew of guest stars this year including Seth Rogen, Jeff Goldblum, Sarah Silverman, Ray Liotta, Will Forte and Eliza Dushku.

Production on Season 4 will begin next summer and is slated to premiere in the fall.

Idiot clicks on, reads entire story, and then comments about a show he/she says he/she doesn’t watch.
This show is hilarious. Too bad you’re not smart enough to understand the humor. It’s a shame…

I love this show too but mostly because of the regular cast dynamics. The “slew of guest stars” this year has really taken some of the uniqueness of the show away for me. I’ll still watch but would be more excited about it if they knocked off the stunt casting and got back to basics.

The slew of guest stars has been good, it’s nice to finally put some faces to names (Andre’s sister being the biggest name dropped on many occasions) and for me it hasn’t taken away from the show at all.

Season 2 had guest football stars, so there’s no reason not to hate one and like another group.

It’s only natural to get people on to fill roles, and if the best/funniest actors are the best people for the role then so be it.

Season highlights have to be Seth Rogen as Dirty Randy, and Jeff Goldblum as Ruxin’s dad

This show has its MVP — Nick Kroll, who plays Rodney Ruxin. His timing is impeccable, his facial expressions are inimitable, and his connection to the character is as good as you’ll find on a sitcom. Anybody who loved the writing in Seinfeld should love this show. It’s a similar approach to story development and character roles. Taco is Kramer, Raffi is Newman, Kevin is Jerry, Jenny is Elaine, Andre is George. Ruxin is incredibly unique. Pete has become somewhat irrelevant, but I suppose his character keeps the Fantasy Football backdrop alive. Most people who hate this show never really gave it a chance in the first place, dismissing it on account of not playing Fantasy Football. Put it to you this way, it’s worth learning about Fantasy Football just to appreciate the full effect of this show.

100% spot on. The League is one of the best comedy’s on tv. If you like Seinfeld, Curb your Enthusiasm or Sunny in Philadelphia you will love this possibly even more. Ruxin and the rest of the cast of characters are hilarious as are the no holds barred story lines. I highly recommend this show.

This show is hilarious, I’ve watched all three seasons easily 5 times and still crack up! We need more of Roffie though, by far the funniest, close second is Ruxin. ROFFIE BOMB!

the best part about this show is that they dont have the background laughing to tell you when its funny. you completely bust out laughing all on your own. seriously one of the best casts ive ever seen. when i need a good laugh this show is where i go to.

  9. Andrew says:

Awesome show. One of the best things to hit tv.
