Law & Order: SVU's Diane Neal to Grill Gifted Man

Law & Order: SVU‘s erstwhile ADA Casey Novak, Diane Neal, will get her lawyer on in a different capacity and for a different show, as a guest star on A Gifted Man.

Neal Baer, the former SVU boss who now executive-produces CBS’ freshman medical drama, de facto announced the casting via a tweet to the actress, saying, “Great to have you on A Gifted Man grilling Patrick Wilson on the stand.”

Neal responded by tweeting to her fans, “I’m playing a lawyer. A DEFENSE attorney, with better suits-ha!”

What exactly lands Wilson’s titular Dr. Holt in a witness stand, facing so formidable an attorney? “Michael must testify that a boy who set a deadly fire is no longer a danger after the removal of brain tumor which caused the boy to become a firebug,” says Baer. Neal’s character in turn “grills Michael on the stand to determine whether the boy is still an arsonist at heart.”

A Gifted Man, which aired its fall finale on Dec. 2, resumes its freshman run in January.

  • While not an amazing show, I am enjoying it. I’m hoping that the ratings improve so that it has even a shot at a second season.
