First Look: New American Idol Season 11 Promo -- Can You Spot the Winner?

Fox has released a new promo for American Idol‘s forthcoming 11th season — and this one features a first look at some of the wannabe Kelly Clarksons and Scotty McCreerys gunning for a one-way ticket to Hollywood.

And unless the network is playing fast and loose with the editing, second-year judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler have singled out a few early favorites.

Press play below and then hit the comments with your snappy judgements.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

  1. Stormy says:

Scotty not Scott. Would you call Steven Tyler Steve?

  2. Linda says:

Does Jennifer Lopez ever like female performers?

    • Jason says:

That is a stupid question. She loved Lauren and Pia. She loved Haley too, but read off of Nigel’s notes. She also loved that Paris girl during last year’s auditions. You are on crack.

  3. ziggy says:

I remember when the promos used to involve actual singing. This looks like a retread of the trainwreck that was season 10; due in no small part to those wak judges. Ugh, I guess it’s another year of not watching this crapfest.

  4. Jake says:

UGH…cannot stand American Pie Hole, stopped watching it when Simon and Paula left…Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler please America can do better than those two.

  5. shaun says:

And cannot be viewed from anywhere besides xenophobic USA,lol.

  6. Betsy says:

    FYI, it’s “judgments”

  7. Jason says:

I don’t have to spot the winner to know he will be male, white, and have an affinity with guitars.

    • Templar says:

I can’t disagree with you. If they would limit the number of votes from every source [land line, cell etc.] that would change. Teen and tween girls have destroyed the show’s cred. When Kelly, Carrie, Fantasia and Jordin won every teen didn’t have a cell phone.

    • forrest says:

Sad, but true. Since I’ve seen the ‘new’ last season, this will not be must see TV. Hasn’t this show peaked already? Time to move on.

    • Grree says:

You are an idiot. Scotty is nothing like the rest. Remember when people classified WGWG as singing soft rock? And then it conveniently changed when Scotty came along just to fault him?

  8. Sue says:

If you don’t like the show, why are you reading and commenting! Keep your negativity to yourself! I think this column is meant for those of us who still enjoy the show. If you miss Simon and Paula, check out the trainwreck known as The X Factor. But brace yourself, this is not the same Simon we all loved on AI.

  9. Sara says:

Oh my gosh, they used an Imagine Dragons song in the background! :D

  10. kevin says:

Think it’s time I’m already giving up on AMERICAN IDOL after ten years because the way I felt truly emotional about the reality series and care much about it. It didn’t take all the blame X FACTOR was and if Fox is thinking about what lies ahead for the future of both shows, who wouldn’t.

  11. JoJo says:

All due respect to Michael Ausiello, but does the fact you wrote this column about American Idol, and not Michael Slezak, mean that the latter Michael will not not be writing our weekly critiques and snarkfests this coming year?…GASP??!!!
