TVLine Items: Community Summons Beetlejuice, 24 Alum Lands Lifetime Drama and More!

It’s like the Ocean’s Eleven gang pulling off a complicated heist. Only imagine George Clooney and Co. are a team of comedy writers and the task at hand is the greatest TV show Easter egg of all time. (Sorry, Lost.)

Community‘s attentive fans have put together a video that proves the show’s wildly inventive brass have been setting up a Beetlejuice-related joke for three whole seasons, and it finally paid off this fall.

See the gag pan out in the below clip, which shows the cast speaking the name “Beetlejuice” three separate times (mimicking the rules in the 1988 film to summon Michael Keaton’s titular character), and concluding, of course, with the crazy-haired “bio-exorcist” being transported to our reality skulking in the background. Pretty brilliant, no?

  5. Michael says:

I really hope Community doesn’t get cancelled. It’s the best comedy on TV.

Arrested Development had pretty subtle jokes too. And that only got three seasons.

  6. matt says:

Community and Cougar Town both deserve better treatment by their networks.

  7. aleksa says:

    Cool. Cool cool cool.

    • tigersmurfette says:

i use this saying at work a lot and have recently noticed coworkers using it as well. now i need to work on slap out of it. eat the sword. and making kick ass represent awful/crappy things.

  8. Louie says:

Simply the smartest, wittiest, “awesomest” sitcom on any of the major networks. Only Happy Endings comes close – VERY close. How Community got forced into hiatus but Whitney got a full season order blows my mind! #donotcancelcommunity

  9. LC says:

And that is why I love Community. Why do shows like this never get the attention they deserve? I’m really going to miss it when it’s on hiatus. :(

  10. WTF says:

Will never read this site again. Makes me sick to have to sit through Kardasses advertising. Never again.

  13. Matthew Thomas says:

This is Arrested Development levels of brilliance. Wow the show just manages to be so crazy and ambitious!

  14. Yukkie B says:

This show is for the retarted, people with taste and .. well taste avoid this complete disaster. I feel for you people. Waiting for a not funny show to get funny. Funny my @ss. It’s dumb, lame AND stupid. Look at the dork who says: This is Arrested Development levels of brilliance. That show sucked even more. Get real people and get ur heads out of your @sses.

    • aleksa says:

When you can spell and speak in complete sentences, we might start taking you seriously. It’s a long shot, but….

    • @Yukkie B says:

No Yukkie, you are the one who is “retarted”. Does this mean you used to be a tart, and now are a tart again? You made my day. I just love a good moron comment. But, I will say, regarding Community, you know not of which you speak. It is one of the best written and acted shows on TV today. You sir/madam, are basically everything negative you said in your comment. No one would obviously take you seriously based on your poor spelling, grammar and elementary school name calling.

  15. Meh says:

Community rocks. We need that show on tv, dammit!
