Katy Perry, Jimmy Fallon and More Book Saturday Night Live Hosting Gigs

Talk about a teenage dream come true: Katy Perry has been tapped to host Saturday Night Live.

The “California Gurls” singer will bust out her acting chops in the Dec. 10 installment of NBC’s late-night staple, TVLine has confirmed.

However, unlike a handful of past music-based hosts, Perry will not pull double duty. Musical guest honors belong to Swedish songstress Robyn.

Perry — who has a cameo in the new Muppets movie — is no stranger to the small screen. The colorfully coiffed performer guest-starred in a February episode of How I Met Your Mother, playing the hot cousin of Jennifer Morrison’s Zoey.

UPDATE: NBC also announced Monday that former SNL cast member Jimmy Fallon will make his hosting debut on the episode airing Dec. 17, with musical guest Michael Bublé, while Boardwalk Empire star Steve Buscemi will take the stage for a second time on Dec. 3 with performers The Black Keys.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

Wonder if Russell Brand maybe appearing during one of Katy’s sketches?

  2. Taylor says:

Can’t wait!! She has a great sense of humor, so it’ll be interesting to see what they have her do. Loved her cameo last season, and her pulled Sesame Street clip.

Me: OMG shes gona b so funnie!
    Everyone else: Oh, honey…

  4. Kristen says:

Will this be the Xmas episode?

  5. Peng9803 says:

I thought Jimmy Fallon was supposed to host that night? It was predicted years ago during one of Alec Baldwin’s episodes and it was confirmed not too long ago that they would have him host.

Katy was HORRIBLE on HIMYM. She may have ousted Britney Spears as the worst guest star on the series. Don’t forget she was in The Smurfs movie…oh wait…she did the voice of Smurfette. They didn’t even have her as a human. And we can’t really critique her appearing in The Muppets until Wednesday but I’m sure she has a tiny part, nowhere near the amount of screentime as Rashida Jones.

  6. Annie says:

I will skip Katy & Steve and hold out until December 17th where I am sure (or at least I hope) it will be an epicepisode for their Christmas show with Jimmy Fallon, and probably a cameo or two (hello Tina Fey!) Plus you can’t go wrong having Michael Buble has the musical guest.

  7. patrick says:

shes not in the muppets, i saw a preview screening this weekend. that was either just a rumor or she got cut.

  8. Herb Finn says:

But will Jimmy be hosting Both his show all week – and SNL? 7 shows (Including the taped dress rehearsal SNL does) would impress me.

At One Point, Steve Allen was actually doing his LIVE Sunday Show and his 5 LIVE 110 Minute “Tonight” per week broadcasts for several weeks before NBC realized it was too much (and Ernie Kovacs came in and did Monday and Tuesday with his writers)

  9. Daisy says:

Lorne Michaels shoving Fallon down our throats again…sigh… Give it up, Lorne. Fallon has reached the apex of his mediocre career. Time for Fallon to move to TBS.

  10. Aprilcot26 says:

I don’t have high hopes for Ms. Perry, but I’m curious and will watch her episode with an open mind. I feel like SNL has had some pretty stellar hosts so far this season and I hope they keep it up. I’m sure Fallon will knock it out of the park.

So Katy will be hosting but won’t be singing? that’s two great news.
