Parenthood Exclusive: Dexter Grad Courtney Ford Makes a Play For Crosby

A Crosby-Jasmine reunion is suddenly looking a lot less likely this season on Parenthood.

Dexter and True Blood alum Courtney Ford is joining NBC’s sublime family drama as a new love interest for Dax Shepard’s bachelor.

Her character, Lily, is an accomplished cello player who starts renting time at Crosby and Adam’s recording studio. Described as down-to-earth and wry-humored, Lily begins to connect with Crosby despite an inauspicious first meeting.

Ford — who last month guest-starred as a comic book nerd on The Big Bang Theory — will debut in January and recur through the remainder of Parenthood‘s way-too-short third season, which concludes on Feb. 28.

  • Ah, dang. Really dislike her. She has a way of getting herself into some of my favorite shows (Dexter, True Blood, TVD, and now Parenthood.)

    • Really? I feel the exact opposite. Was disappointed when her True Blood storyline didn’t pan out to be much of anything, and would have loved to see her character pop up again on TBBT. Definitely looking forward to seeing her on Parenthood.
As the saying goes, to each their own.

  • I’m glad to see Crosby moving on from Jasmine. What’s disconcerting is the shortened season. Is the February 28th date just a hiatus with a few more episodes later in the season? If not, it doesn’t bode well for a renewal and a season 4. Totally bad news if that’s the case.

    • On the other hand, NBC’s lack of renewable shows for Fall 2012 is strongly in favor of Parenthood returning. It does solid in the demos and has a loyal fanbase, as its week-to-week numbers are pretty steady overall.
With Playboy Club, Prime Suspect, and Free Agents already canceled, Chuck in its final season, Grimm, Harry’s Law, and Community up in the air for renewal, and hopefully Whitney finally finding its way to the trash heap where it belongs, NBC would be insane to do away with a consistent performer like Parenthood in lieu of one more new show for their 2012 line-up that may not do well.
As it stands, TVBytheNumbers lists Parenthood as “certain to be renewed by May, 2012″ and, having had my eye on the ratings since the season began, I completely agree with them.

  • Looks like Minka Kelly may definitely be finished on PARENTHOOD since she left our hearts broken on CHARLIE’S ANGELS but it seems Dax Shepard’s Crosby continues to be the worst Braverman of all time. Wouldn’t ruled out for a Season Four.

  • “Way-too-short third season” – absolutely! This is the BEST show on tv. This makes me sad. :(

  • Crosby and Jasmine are not a good pair together. So it sounds like a good story line to have him get interested with someone in the music industry.

Jasmine is a type A and Crosby is a type B personality. They are both good people, but that doesn’t mean that they are a good couple. the romantic sense.

They (or at least Jasmine) realize this. Crosby is coming around.
Crosby doesn’t want to let go because he is in love with being a father. He is not in love with Jasmine – although it is totally possible that he doesn’t really realize this.
Crosby fears that if he loses Jasmine, that it also means that he loses Jabbar.
So far, Jasmine has shown no intent to deny Jabbar to Crosby.

  • well they are making Jasmine such a b***h this season, he needs to date someone else, she tries to be every controlling of him, like she blames him for not being there the first 5 years, i mena she didn’t tell him she shoudl still be pissed at her for him missing that time in his life that he can never get back… she thinks she so perfect, and that gets annoying, loose her, keep the kid!
