Get More: Lists, Previews, TVLine-Ups

On TV this Wednesday: Molly Shannon is no superstar, Suburgatory throws an extreme “Sweet 16,” Happy Endings‘ Max gets a blast from his “straight” past, Psych goes mental and more. As a supplement to TVLine’s original feature stories, here are 11 programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm The X Factor (Fox) | The Top 10 perform!

8 pm Up All Night (NBC) | Reagan’s inability to fire a less-than-stellar assistant (guest star Molly Shannon) leads Ava to question whether the new mom has lost her edge.

8 pm The Middle (ABC) | Frankie learns that Sue may be cut from a local staging of Wizard of Oz; Brick asks his quirky uncle (Norm Macdonald) to attend his school’s Special Friends Day — with disastrous results.

8:30 pm Suburgatory (ABC) | Tessa wants a simple 16th birthday party, but Dalia plans an extravaganza at the country club, complete with a live performance by her favorite band and go-go cages.

9:30 pm Happy Endings (ABC) | Max’s high school girlfriend, whom he dated before he figured out he was gay, moves back to town, and her arrival affects everyone; Jane finds out Brad has a “work wife,” so she decides to get herself a “work husband” (Perfect Couples‘ Hayes MacArthur). P.S. Keep an eye out for the latest Cougar Town cameo!

Revenge Preview: The Real Emily Thorne Reveals Her Agenda! (Hint: It Involves ‘Sharing’)

10 pm American Horror Story (FX) | When the Moiras persuade a prospective buyer to make an offer on the house, Constance and Larry work to thwart her (their?) efforts; Vivien and security guy Luke grow closer.

10 pm Law & Order: SVU (NBC) | Benson and Rollins try to piece together what really happened to an alleged rape victim (American Pie‘s Natasha Lyonne) who denies being assaulted. Carrie Preston (True Blood) also guest-stars, as the troubled young woman’s aunt.

10 pm Psych (USA Network) | When a billionaire is found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity, Shawn and Gus go undercover at the mental ward he is being held to prove that he’s indeed sane. Molly Ringwald (Sixteen Candles) and Brad Dourif (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, heh) guest-star.

  • I’ve really gotten into ABC’s entire Wednesday night block. Modern Family is still my favorite, but it’s a really solid 2 hours of TV from The Middle through Happy Endings. Up All Night is still on my DVR, but it’s not a priority to watch…

  • As far as ABC comedikes are concerned, the only ones that I like are The Middle and. of course Modern Family. The others you can keep especially Happy Endings.

  • Love Suburgatory and hope it keeps it’s ratings up well enough to get renewed. I’m actually commenting to wonder something: has no one else noticed that the character/casting of Tessa is a nearly dead-on copy of the character in the movie “Easy A” played by Emma Stone?? I scan a few of these comment strings often and have NEVER seen anyone else comment on this. Nor have I noted a reviewer writing this. I can’t be the only one who thinks this, can I?
