Lost's Sideways Sawyer Faces Cold Case's Scotty Valens in Hot-Cop Quarterfinals!

We’ve reached the last Quarterfinal matchup of our Ultimate Law-Enforcement Crushes Bracket Tournament, and it’s another doozy. Will you vote for a badge-wielding alternate version of Lost‘s luscious con man, or a dapper Philly homicide detective from Cold Case.

The choice in front of you may cseem cruel, but it’s your duty as a TV-loving citizen to vote in the poll below, then alert your friends and neighbors to do the same! Bear in mind, as part of our single-elimination competition, only four law-enforcing hunks will advance to the semifinals.

Every afternoon over the next week, we’ll launch another set of face-offs that will test the strength of your respective character crushes. So make sure the right choice is made by heading down to our polls to vote for your favorites (Quarterfinals voting will be open for 48 hours), and hit the comments to justify your picks.

Eventually, our battle will boil down to a finale that pits the ultimate old-school crime-fighter against the ultimate modern-day hero. (Their female counterparts will have their turn later this month.)

Oh, and if you’re interested in the match-ups we’ve got planned for the coming weeks, CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT THE ENTIRE 64-PLAYER BRACKET (then click again for a zoomed-in view), and sign up to follow me on Twitter @MichaelSlezakTV.

Now what are you waiting for? Vote!

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

No contest here — I’m a sucker for longer hair and stubble :b

  2. Ben says:

As much as I have voted for Sawyer every time, calling hmi a law enforcement official is a bit of a cop out.

    • elr says:

That is my feeling too. I don’t think he belongs in this tournament, even though he is extremely crushable.

    • Jen says:

I have to agree. He’s good looking but doesn’t belong in this particular poll. I feel bad about the legitimate characters that he beat.

    • wordsmith says:

Agreed. Not that it’s seeming to make much difference in this round, though… Maybe once he’s up against Vaughn.

      • Sarah says:

I’ve been voting for Sawyer for the most part because I don’t know the others he’s up against that well. I do agree that he really doesn’t belong in this competition. When he’s up against Vaughn, it’s going to be the former CIA spook all the way!

    • Carrie says:

I agree. It’s not really fair. I’m voting for Scotty, anyway. He’s a hottie.

  3. EvaneSam says:

I have a question for you regarding your 64 player bracket. It says there that Fox Mulder has 74.4% over Michael Vaughn who has 65.0. Wouldn’t he have advanced to the next round?

    • DrewH says:

You’re reading it wrong. The numbers are the percentage by which they wont the previous match.

    • Alexis says:

Mulder had 74% over the competition between him and Paul Ballard. Vaughn had 65% over the competition between him and Harmon Rabb Jr. But Vaughn beat Mulder in the competition between the two with 64.6%

    • Michael Slezak says:

If you read the bracket from the first round going forward, you’ll see Mulder had 74.4% over Dale Cooper; Vaughn had 65.0% vs. Harmon Rabb. Vaughn then went on to win over Mulder with 64.6% of the vote. Hope that helps.

    • Logistical Error says:

I just think it’s sweet that everyone pointed out the correct way to read the bracket, and no one mentioned that in a two person race where you can’t vote for both it’s impossible for Choice A to have 74.4% and Choice B to have 65%. Just sayin’

  4. Anne says:

This one is ridiculously easy. The one I’m dreading is the potential Vaughn vs. Sawyer face-off. That is going to be tough one.

  5. Lisa says:

    They are both gross.

  6. Erica says:

No contest. Sideways Sawyer! He can arrest me any day or night! I wanna do things to him!

  7. MoxieSue says:

No contest here. Sideways Sawyer was hot.

  8. opus says:

I was never a Josh Holloway fan but the reason he is so loved was because he played the “bad boy” on Lost. Wouldn’t it be ironic if all these cops got beaten out by a guy whose character was a con man!! Truly, Josh has no business in this contest. His sideways cop character wasn’t the character’s “real” nature.

  9. Zoe says:

I’m sorry but why is the guy from Lost beating out all of my favorite cops?!

The heck is wrong with you all.

  10. Sally says:

Sideways sawyer barely qualifies for this tournament tbh.

  11. Julia says:

Like there’s any question? But as far as pony-tailed stubbly cops go, no one can beat Sonny Crockett. I mean really, who brought the hot to cop in the first place? All others are a pale comparison.

  12. reality check says:

Whoever did your seedings was smoking something amazing, only 1 top seed in the quarters.

  13. Jax says:

Sawyer should never have been included in this poll. The fact that he took out Stabler makes it even worse.

    • krw says:

Could not agree more. What really gets me the Johnny Depp from 21 Jump Street. It was more than 20 years ago!!! He’s only getting votes because of who his now, not what is was then. He’s going to win the whole thing and that would be wrong.

      • Shannon says:

No he’s not. Castle is. :)

      • Rain says:

Half of the people in this are getting votes not at all based on their actual character. It’s annoying to me as well, but just so you know some of us voted for Tommy from 21 Jump Street for who he was on the show, not for the actor who played him.

  14. Kaiulani says:

    No contest….Sawyer all the way!

  15. Alice says:

Sideways Sawyer, not my favorite version of Sawyer, to be sure, but the irony, and the stuble, alone makes it worth it.

  16. Dee says:

This whole tournament started off well then went downhill rather fast.

    • Deena says:

I KNOW! No Stabler, Booth, Neal Caffery… Tom Hanson is the only character left on a show I ever watched and that was over 20 years ago!

  17. Just Sayin says:

I like how everyone says that Sawyer shouldn’t be in the tournament, but he’s still winning.

  18. ZmaX says:

Sawyer has no place in this competition! Who ever made that call made a huge mistake.
I can’t believe that he beat out Stabler, that’s just a real shame.

this has become one of those High School class president campaigns

I’m rooting for Vaughn all the way :)

  19. Nat says:

Seriously people? That guy Pinno would have a chance over Josh Holloway. The comparison is really a failure.

  20. Liza says:

Oh No… I just checked the bracket and it’s gong to be Castle vs Dinozzo in the next round. I’m torn.

  21. ak says:

i’d like to get Sawyer sideways.

  22. Jennifer says:

WHY is Sawyer even in this competition?

  23. F. says:

No contest here – Team Sawyer.

  24. Caroline says:

Of course Sawyer should be in the competition. Josh Holloway portrayed a cop very well and with charisma. It’s all fiction anyway.
