Exclusive: Last Man Standing Makes Nick Jonas a Deadbeat Dad

Nick Jonas is ditching his squeaky-clean persona on ABC’s Last Man Standing.

TVLine has learned exclusively that the pop star has booked a guest appearance on the freshman comedy playing Ryan, the oft-mentioned deadbeat dad of Mike’s (Tim Allen) young grandson.

The hard-to-like character’s surprise appearance in Last Man‘s Christmas-themed episode challenges Mike to suppress his inner-Scrooge and forgive the young man for his past mistakes.

Jonas — who last season guest starred in an episode of Matthew Perry’s short-lived Mr. Sunshine — most recently starred alongside brothers Joe and Kevin on Disney’s Jonas.

  • Don’t forget that he has been appearing on Broadway and that is how he got his start.
I am well past the age of his target audience, but I have seen him perform live 3 times with my teenage daughter. This particular Jonas does have some talent – he writes the songs, plays more than one instrument. Getting away from Disney would be very good for him.

  • He also recently filmed a guest spot on the NBC show Smash which starts in February. Should be interesting. After seeing him in Hairspray in August, I have no doubt he will do a good job.

  • Things seem to be working out for him. He also is taking over the role of How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying from Darren Criss after Daniel steps down. Im glad for him…

  • Nick is very talented and unfortunately it does not get noticed often bc he has the Jonas/Disney stigma! Nick can sing a variety of music, plays several instruments, writes amazing music and has been writing for others too. He also composed music for wizards 101!!
