Exclusive: Nurse Jackie Admits Joel Grey

A new (and very familiar) face is checking into Nurse Jackie: Oscar winner Joel Grey.

The acting vet — who’s currently starring in the Broadway revival of Anything Goes — will guest star during the Showtime dramedy’s fourth season, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively.

A Showtime rep declined to comment, but an insider reveals that Grey will be playing a patient who shows up at All Saints suffering from dementia.

Grey joins a Season 4 guest cast that also includes Rosie Perez, who will similarly be playing a patient.

  • I usually do not do this, mostly because TV shows fall in two categories for me almost all the time; I like them or I don’t care about them. Very rarely do I “hate” a show or feel the need to vent like this, but man, this has to be the worst show currently airing on TV. The mere thought that Edie Falco was rewarded by the Academy for walking around with a scowl on her face and saying a third the amount of lines the insufferable supporting cast does is enough to throw up in your mouth.

Joel Grey and Rosie Perez are cool and all, but they’re certainly not enough to get me to watch this again.

    • Did you watch the first season? Which Edie won the award for, it was pretty good compared to the second and third. Its my favorite season, last season she was nothing but scowl but the first season was fairly enjoyable.

  • Joel Grey and Rosie Perez are good, but maybe they need to add some amazing actors that stick around a while and aren’t just gimmicky guest star “patients.” Jackie desperately needs to get its mojo back. Last season blew the promise of the season before’s cliffhanger and, instead, we spent last season with endlessly repetitive dumb variations of jokes that had gotten tired in season one. Last season suddenly got better at the end and ended with a promising cliffhanger, but I sure hope we don’t just begin the new season once again acting like not much has changed and just going back to the same old, same old.
