Law-Enforcement Hotties From 24, Alias, JAG, Due South, CHiPs, Santa Barbara and L&O Do Battle!

The weekend is here, but there’s no day of rest for your favorite TV cops and agents.

Indeed, Day 6 of our Ultimate Law-Enforcement Crushes Bracket Tournament is upon us, and that means swoon-inducing characters from Alias, 24, JAG, Due South, Law & Order, CHiPs, and Santa Barbara must do battle in our 64-player, single-elimination showdown.

And you’ve got work to do, too, by voting in the polls below and urging your friends and fellow TV junkies to do their civic duty, too!

Tomorrow, the “modern” half of our bracket continues with characters who are still part of their networks’ current lineups. Eventually, our battle will boil down to a finale that pits the ultimate old-school crime-fighter against the ultimate modern-day hero. (Their female counterparts will have their turn in November.)

Every afternoon over the next few weeks, we’ll launch another set of bouts that will have you committing crimes and misdemeanors on the off chance one of our competitors shows up to cuff you. So make sure the right choice is made by heading down to our polls to vote for your favorites (Round 1 voting will be open for 72 hours), and hit the comments to justify your picks.

(Oh, and in case you’re wondering/fretting, we put a cap of two cast members per show for the bracket, which meant some fan favorites had to warm the bench this time around.)

What’s more, if you’re interested in the matchups we’ve got planned for the coming weeks, CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT THE ENTIRE 64-PLAYER BRACKET (then click again for a zoomed-in view), and sign up to follow me on Twitter @MichaelSlezakTV.

Now ready, set, vote!

  • Are you going to do one for women next week?

    • I believe the women’s bracket starts in November.

  • Vaughn vs. Tony Almeida?!? Harm vs. Benton Fraser?!? How am I supposed to choose one over the other? OK, Tony turned evil (although Vaughn married that blonde chick behind Sydney’s back, so that’s almost a wash.) That doesn’t help me in the other match-up, though.

Comment by MelindaB – October 29, 2011 10:08 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • Hey now. Vaughn thought Sydney was dead when he married Lauren. That’s hardly fair.

Comment by Billie – October 29, 2011 10:12 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • I was kidding! I voted for Vaughn…although he wasn’t displaying very good judgment, since she was a baddie herself. :-P

Comment by MelindaB – October 30, 2011 09:14 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I had the exact same thought, Melinda. Those two were BOTH way too crushable… But I had to stick with Harm. After all, Navy uniform is better than the Mounty uniform.

Comment by Secha – October 29, 2011 10:20 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • I had to go for Harm, too. National pride and all that–plus, it’s DJE. I can’t vote against DJE!

Comment by MelindaB – October 30, 2011 09:17 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
        • I had the same dilemma – but you know that both actors are Canadian, right?

Comment by meg – October 30, 2011 01:06 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
          • Yes they are – why did the 2 Canadians have to go up against each other?!

Comment by erin – October 30, 2011 07:58 PM PDT
          • Yes, but we are voting for the characters, not the actors, right? Harm is 100% true-blue American.

Comment by MelindaB – October 31, 2011 06:44 AM PDT
        • National pride for Canada, eh? Both actors are Canadian.

Comment by ellen – October 31, 2011 08:17 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
          • Again–we’re voting for the characters…or at least, that’s the intent of the poll.

Comment by MelindaB – October 31, 2011 09:49 PM PDT
  • Chris Noth might be way hotter than A. Martinez, but seriously: Long live “Santa Barbara”!

      • YES!!! Cruz Castillo was the reason I got hooked on Santa Barbara. Definitely crushable!

Comment by Rex – October 30, 2011 12:10 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • What soap love? I don’t see Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) on this bracket!

Comment by Steven – November 1, 2011 08:14 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I second that…Long live Santa Barbara!! However, Noth is NOT hotter than A. Martinez! Noth is generically handsome but a doughy generic everyday guy whereas Martinez was sexy, strong and did I say sexy!

    Wow I really miss Alias…

  • Half of the voters never knew/won’t remember most of the contestants. I don’t think this is valid.

Comment by A Noun – October 29, 2011 11:17 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • EXACTLY my argument, A Noun.

Some of these voters must be under 25. Who wouldn’t pick Sonny Crocket over that old man?

This contest is totally full of it.

It is upsetting to view results.

Comment by Dee – October 29, 2011 04:32 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I agree with you. Anyone under 25 apparently don’t know these guys. I mean, Jimmy Smitts lost? Get real.

Comment by Sherlock – October 29, 2011 05:04 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • I know! I still can’t get over Smits losing :(

  • Who makes up these pairings? It’s like apples vs. broccoli — completely different categories. Just glad I didn’t have to choose between Jesse L. Martin and Chris Noth!

  • The only two in this vote qho are out of shows I have watched are up against each other!!! Tony vs Vaughn!!!!!! Boooooo!!! But had ot go with the stunningm Mivhael Vaughn, I miss Alias soooo much and hate how Michael Vartan seems to have disappeared into obscurity (or at least he’s not done anything i’ve been aware of) Loved Tony in 24 but didnt like it when he turned into the Big Bad! 24 and Alias are 2 shows I’d love to bring back!!!

Comment by Katy – October 29, 2011 12:24 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • MICHAEL VARTAN has been filling the lab coat of SeXXXXy-As-Hell Dr. Tom Wakefield, and steaming the screen with Jada Pinkett-Smith on “HawthoRNe” — “Doctor, Doctor, can’t you see I’m burnin’, burnin’!!” Or perhaps you’ve seen him in “Colombiana” this summer with Zoe Saldana??
As for Michael Vaughn, he is STILL the hoTTTest secret agent man ever to be called a “handler” — He can “handle” me any damn time!!!!

  • It breaks my heart that Benton Fraser and Tony Almeida are so behind, precentage-wise. I adored Fraser in middle school and high school and melted for Tony in college!

    • Due South was on too long ago and never was a real hit.
The voters on this site are quite young and will vote for who is the cutest.. . .and often. . . most recently on TV. They won’t know Brendon Fraser.

Comment by J.Norman – October 29, 2011 02:30 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
      • oh Vaughn…how I love you. And Benton! And Harm! This has been the hardest choice for me. I think I will have a Alias and Due South Marathon this week. Target has the first couple seasons of Due South for $5 people. A must have!

Comment by Shannon – October 30, 2011 09:15 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Really? So little love for Ponch? The character was loved by men (in the man-crush/bromance way), women, and children. The only strike against him was his living in a mobile home.

    • At the height of the CHIPs craze I got to see a Macy’s T-giving parade. The women actually mobbed the float he was on and elf fell off. I’ll remember that always.

  • Some of these pairings seem really unfair. Chips, Santa Barbara, and Due South are all really old compared to their competition.

  • while I love David James Elliot, I have to stay true to my Canadian roots and go with the adorable Paul Gross – though that was a tough match-up to go through!

Still its so hard to choose.

        I LOVED Due South….AND JAG

I might have to go with Harm though

  • I MISS VAUGHN!!! And I so miss Alias. In answer to someone above, Michael has far from disappeared. He was on “HawthoRNe” for 3 years on TNT with Jada Pinkett Smith and in the recently released film “Colombiana” with Zoe Saldana which did pretty well. I was amused that the movie tracker people seemed bewildered that a large percentage – well over 50% as I recall – of the people going to see “Colombiana” which was about a female assassin were female. Vartan fans know exactly why all us gals were there – Vartan played her boyfriend!

  • Of course, you left out the hottest of them all – and you could have put him in classic (NYPD Blue) or current (CsI Miami) – David Caruso…

  • Wow! Santa Barbara. That’s going back. That was my 1st soap opera I ever watched. Who remembered that one.

  • Did you really have to put Tony Almeida up against Michael Vaughn? Tony Almeida all the way for me.

Comment by Saracen Riggins – October 31, 2011 08:12 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Who wouldn’t pick Sonny Crockett over that old dude!? What? That old dude is JACK BRISTOW from Alias! Majorly popular character, and not for the under 25 at all, but for Alias fans! So clearly a lot of people voted for HIM instead of Sonny crocket!

Comment by Ale – November 6, 2011 10:01 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
  • Okay, I have to call foul!

We have sheriff from The Walking Dead, but not Eureka on SyFy? You have Sam from NCIS: LA, but not G. Callan? Jane and Cho from Mentalist, but not Rigsby? McGarret and Chin, but no Danno? Hotch and Morgan, but no Reed? That’s not fair! How can a girl vote when half the options are gone? I love Latimer from Warehouse 13, but c’mon, Jack Carter from Eureka beats him out. Sam Hanna’s good lookin’, but Callan has his charms too! What about McGee? He’s definitely starting to break even with DiNozzo! Where’s Espizito or Ryan from Castle? Or is this a “only two from each series” thing? In that case, why no John Casey from Chuck? Where’s Sam Axe?

And on the classic side: Where’s the Simon brothers, AJ and Rick? They might not be “law-enforcement,” but neither is the dude from Psych or Dexter. And since when what Sawyer from Lost even remotely related to law-enforcement, aside from running from it? Heck, where’s the Texas Ranger? Not that he’s top of the list, but still… We must be fair! More options!

And stop pairing the good looking ones! Michael Weston Vs. Steve McGarret? Are you insane? The world would explode.

I’m just saying, where are all the other crush-ables in these series’? If you agree, say so! If you don’t, well, I don’t want to know… *Grins* More options! Re-vote!
