Foul Ball! How Tonight's World Series Rain-Out Might Affect Fringe and Chuck

This might make baseball — and Chuck and Fringe — fans want to charge the mound!

Due to inclement weather in St. Louis, Game 6 of the World Series has been pushed back to Thursday, meaning a potential tie-breaking Game 7 would air — gasp! — Friday night. So, what does all of this mean for Peter’s return to Fox’s Fringe and the premiere of Chuck on NBC?

Sadly, fans awaiting Joshua Jackson’s full-fledged return to the sci-fi drama may have to bide their time just a little bit longer, as Fox tells TVLine they would bump the broadcast if there’s a Game 7 (which will begin at 7:30 ET).

Chuck‘s fifth and final opener, meanwhile, would end up airing opposite a possible Game 7, as would the series premiere of Grimm. (An NBC source tells TVLine there’s no chance the network would push back the premieres a week to steer clear of the World Series clincher.)

Fox has slotted two Glee repeats (“The Rocky Horror Glee Show” and “Silly Love Songs”) to air in place of the World Series tonight, while the Bones reruns scheduled for Thursday have been scrapped.

Won’t bother me, the good episodes will come. In fact, if game 7 happens and Fringe doesn’t air, then I can DVR Supernatural AND the Grimm series premiere!

Go Rangers! Peter, Olivia, Walter, Astrid Broyles and Lincoln need you.

  3. Frank says:

There’s a World Series going on?

  4. Bob says:

Watch out for unsavory NBC executives at tonight’s World Series game! They may desperately try anything to ensure a Cardinals victory. Then they’d have most of the country primed to watch Chuck and Grimm.

Go Rangers! I want Fringe tomorrow night!

Love Baseball. This is fantastic news. Scripted shows can
    wait! Go Cardinals!!!

Heres the deal! Although I am extremely pissed that it has been delayed YET AGAIN, it honestly is probably the best thing that could have happened. As we all know Fringe is on a slippery slope re: ratings and possible cancellation. It sucks because it really is such a good show, and no one is even watching it? It blows my mind that this show isn’t the huge hit it deserves to be! Anyway, this month being November sweeps period, where the ratings are really going to count, and chances are, with this weekend being haloween and everything, TONS of people would rather go out and party tonight rather than watch fringe. This is a blessing in disguise that the seasons most anticipated episode has been delayed to the week AFTER halloween when the ratings for that episode are absolutley going to be scrutinized, and more people are going to be willing to sit down and watch it next friday then they would if it were on THIS friday!

While on the subject, I highly recommend for all fringe fans to write/email into FOX and express your love for the show and let them know that if they cancel our show, you will never watch their network again, and will convince others around you to do the same.

Couldn’t agree more Julie, but the sad thing is that will never happen. Because that would require people to think about something else other than themselves. Which would take half the time it did for them to sit here and go on and on whining about “THEIR” show, and how much they hate baseball. Their show didn’t run last week, and baseball wasn’t even on.. so what did they hate then?
If they didn’t show the World Series, then you miss it for good. That’s not something you’re gonna see next week on a re-run.
Yet, even if the show “Chuck” did get pushed back another week (which it didn’t).. it’s not like their not gonna play the episode 50 more times after it premiers. The world SOMEHOW held together this long without it, I think it could have made it another 7 days.
People just need to GROW UP and for once in their lives think about others and something rather then themselves. I realize that’s a LOT to ask for now these days… but if everyone could do just that, life would be easier. And maybe you would have some REAL problems to actually complain about.
