The TVLine-Up: TV Worth Watching This Friday

On TV this Friday: Extreme Makeover settles into its own new home, ‘Mikita’ battles the green-eyed monster, and Kelsey Grammer puts the tossed salad and scrambled eggs far behind him. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features and reporting, here are 11 programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC) | In a new time slot and now with two-hour episodes (meaning double the Kleenex), the team builds a wheelchair accessible home for a young man and onetime star athlete who was paralyzed before his 21st birthday.

8 pm A Gifted Man (CBS) | Patrick Wilson’s Dr. Michael Holt aims to add a world-class neuropsychiatrist to his practice, and lord knows the guy boasts good cred — after all, he’s played by ER alum Eriq La Salle.

8 pm Nikita (The CW) | ‘Mikita’ is tested when Michael goes to help a woman (Helena Mattson, Desperate Housewives) he once wooed as part of an assignment; Amanda manipulates Alex into helping her with a mission; Sean begins to doubt Division’s motives.

8 pm Kitchen Nightmares (Fox) | Hairnets, everyone! Gordon Ramsay checks in on some of the eateries he has helped in the past.

Hot Video: Fringe‘s Peter Freaks Walter Out!

9 pm CSI: NY (CBS) | The CSIs investigate when the recently paroled brother (Ringer‘s Justin Bruening) of a young basketball prodigy (Revenge‘s Robbie Arnell) is implicated in a murder. Kathleen Munroe reprises her role of Flack’s sister, Samantha. (Watch exclusive video of funny Flack with badass Lindsay.)

9 pm Supernatural (The CW) | James Marsters. Charisma Carpenter. Witchcraft. Bees. And Sam and Dean trying their hand as marriage counselors. What more do you want? (Read our preview here.)

9 pm  American Masters: Pearl Jam 20 (PBS) | This two-hour documentary, crafted by Academy Award-winning director and music journalist Cameron Crowe from over 1,200 hours of rare footage and over 24 hours of recent interviews and concert film, promises a definitive portrait of the seminal band.

Matt’s Inside Line: Scoop on CSI: NY, SupernaturalChuck and More!

10 pm Boss (Starz) In a jarring 180-degree turn from Frasier Crane, Kelsey Grammer headlines this new series as Tom Kane, a Chicago mayor who isn’t about to let a health secret become public knowledge nor soften the crippling blows he deals those who get in his way. Among the supporting cast, Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) plays Kane’s steely wife, Kathleen Robertson (Beverly Hills 90210) and Martin Donovan (Weeds) are his aides, Jeff Hephner (Hellcats) is an aspiring politoco and Troy Garity (Playboy Club) is a relentless reporter.

10 pm Blue Bloods (CBS) | While Danny tries to keep a case from throwing cold water on his romantic getaway with Linda, Jamie goes deep undercover into a crime family.

10 pm Strike Back (Cinemax) | Season finale: Scott and Stonebridge pursue a pair of suicide bombers targeting Budapest, site of the World Security Summit.

11 pm X-Men (G4) | In this new, 12-episode animé series, the X-Men are summoned by Charles Xavier to reunite and track down Hisako Ichiki, a missing teenage girl, in Northern Japan. There, they encounter the U-Men, an anti-mutant group, and discover the real reason Xavier got the band back together. Scott Porter (Hart of Dixie) voices Cyclops.

What will you be watching this Friday? (P.S. Next week, NBC’s Chuck and Grimm join the mix!)
