Exclusive: Desperate Housewives' Doug Savant Relocates to Hot in Cleveland

Doug Savant is ditching Wisteria Lane for Cleveland.

The Desperate Housewives hubby has signed on to guest star in an episode of TV Land’s Hot in Cleveland, sources confirm to TVLine exclusively.

Savant will play a senator who’s caught in an uncompromising situation — a role that I hear may or may not have been inspired by [Anthony] Weinergate.

His episode will air during the comedy’s upcoming, super-sized third season.

This marks Savant’s first sitcom role in nearly a decade, when he appeared in an episode of According to Jim. The gig comes as the Melrose Place vet prepares to say goodbye to his Housewives alter ego Tom Scavo after eight years; the ABC soap is set to sign off in May.

  • I’m glad he is going to be on H.I.C., I really like that show. D.H. never used him enough, he was always my favorite guy on the show. At least now he will get to act w/ another great cast espc. Betty & Wendy (great in her role)

  • Sounds a lot more like a compromising situation. I’m not even sure what “an uncompromising situation” would be, unless the character is a Teabagger.

  • Is he the answer to the blind item? Hope he isn’t the one to die.
