The TVLine-Up: TV Worth Watching This Thursday

On TV this Thursday: Sheldon has a mother of a problem, CBS reveals its Engagement, it’s cloudy in Philadelphia, and NBC’s rife with repeats. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features and reporting, here are 13 programs to keep on your radar.

7:30 pm World Series, Game 2 (Fox) | Game 1 was still underway as I wrote this, but I predict that come Thursday night, one of the teams will be trying to gain a 2-0 advantage while the other looks to even things up. (I took math, you see.)

8 pm Charlie’s Angels (ABC) | Don’t scoff, because you know how it goes: Show gets canceled, then suddenly the episodes get, like, really good. John Terry (aka Lost‘s Christian Shephard) guest-stars as Abby’s (Rachael Taylor) estranged and imprisoned Wall Street tycoon father.

8 pm The Vampire Diaries (The CW) | Senior year is here, and while those who are students theoretically attend classes, Damon is annoyed by a new house guest while Stefan continues to carry out his latest assignment from Klaus.

8 pm The Big Bang Theory (CBS) | Sheldon has trouble “sharing” his mom (returning guest star Laurie Metcalf) when she comes to visit.

8:30 pm Rules of Engagement (CBS) | Season 6 opens with Russell desperate to get out of his marriage to Liz (Bridesmaids‘ Wendi McLendon-Covey), while Jeff eavesdrops on Adam and Jen for pointers on how to talk dirty to Audrey.

Grey’s Anatomy Exclusive: Gossip Girl Schemer to Heat Up McSteamy’s Love Life

9 pm Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) | In addition to the Arizona-Mark fun…. Blackballed Meredith uses Lexie to spark Derek’s interest in her patient’s rare brain tumor and secretly helps April with Bailey’s clinical trial. Lee Majors (Six Million Dollar Man) and Marilu Henner (Taxi) guest-star.

9 pm Miss Representation (OWN) | In this two-hour special, influential women such as Condoleezza Rice, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Margaret Cho, Rosario Dawson and Gloria Steinem offer an inside look at the media’s often negative and sexual depiction of women.

9 pm Person of Interest (CBS) | The Machine coughs up the number of a judge (David Costabile aka Breaking Bad‘s Gale Boetticher) who will have nothing to do with Finch and Reese’s form of vigilante justice.

9 pm The Secret Circle (The CW) | When Faye’s ex (10 Things I Hate About You‘s Chris Zylka) returns to town, the Resident Bad Girl conspires to conjure up some payback, while the handsome visitor irks Adam by setting his sights on Cassie.

Secret Circle Preview: Adam and Cassie Struggle Against ‘Fate’! Plus Scoop on the New Guy

10 pm The Mentalist (CBS) | Rigsby worries that dating a pretty public defender will create awkwardness between him and Van Pelt. Ya think?

10 pm Private Practice (ABC) | While Cooper (and, presumably, Charlotte!) deal with the 8-year-old bombshell this Erica chick just dropped, Addison treats a patient who is eight-and-half-months pregnant and suffering from severe memory loss. (She thinks she merely had a big dinner at Cheesecake Factory.)

10 pm It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX) | The mother of all storms has everyone in a panic. Well, everyone ‘cept Frank, that is.

10:30 pm The League (FX) | Ruxin hires a hot au pair (United States of Tara‘s Brie Larson), then worries that Taco will try to tap that.

What will you be watching this Thursday?

  1. Pam says:

    Go Cardinals! :)

  2. Will says:

    The Vampire Diaries
    Person of Interest
    The Mentalist
Can’t wait for 3 of my fav shows! I may watch Secret Circle later.

If the episode is any good, I’d love to see Charlie’s Angels ratings go through the roof tonight just to see the looks on ABC’s execs.

  3. MoxieSue says:

    I’ll be watching Project Runway.

  4. Fernando says:

Don’t care if it’s cancel I’m still watching Charlies Angel, I’m a fan of the first Angels and I will keep watching this version until it’s gone. Also I have the secret circle and private practice

  5. Justin says:

I’ll be watching the Big Bang Theory and Person of Interest. I might also check out Charlie’s Angels as well despite its recent cancellation.

  6. Nadine says:

Rules of Engagement, groan. How can this show be on the air? Blackmail?

  7. Sil says:

Community and Parks & Rec are the highlights of every thursday.
I’ll also be watching Big Bang, The Office, Sunny, and Secret Circle.

  8. John Berggren says:

As much as I don’t like David Spade, the rest of the cast on Rules make it a joy to watch. It’ll never be on my top 10 list, but it’s a very comfortable series to enjoy.

I hope the move to Thursday allows them to keep going. The Saturday announcement was pretty unfair. Much better to have announced them as midseason and promoted them to Thursday instead.

  9. SK says:

Vampire Diaries and Big Bang Theory! I might DVR Rules of Engagement, too. I’ve only seen a handful of episodes, and it’s not great, but hopefully it’ll be funnier than How to be a Gentleman. Glad it’s not relegated to Saturdays, at any rate. That seemed like a great way to kill it.

  10. Renee says:

Person of Interest for me. Love this show.

  11. tikkanen says:

community and person of interest for me.

  12. Anonymous says:

The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle for me. My highlight of the week is on Thursday nights on the CW when these two shows are on. I can’t wait!

  13. brandy says:

    Vampire Diaries and Secret Circle

  14. Maria says:

We will be watching to see if Derek really is smiling and kissing Meredith On Grey’s Anatomy. After the last five episodes that’s hard to believe.

  15. Richard says:

I have “Project Runway” set to record. Tim visits the homes of the four finalists.

  16. Lisa says:

    I’ll be watching:
    Vamp Diaries
    Secret Circle

  17. Lisa says:

Who else thought last night’s Pysch was fabulously hilarious???

  18. Michelle says:

I will be watching Person of Interest.

  19. Legal Girl says:

I’ll actually be watching the World Series. (Love those Cards – Unleash the Beast!) I’ll DVR Secret Circle for later.

  20. Megan says:

Thank you so so much for mentioning “Miss Representation!” I’m glad to see it getting some attention. It’s something that has a really important message that needs to get out. Thanks again!

  21. Simon Jester says:

Meh, nothing terribly compelling on that list. I’ll be watching shows I DVRed earlier in the week.

  22. James25 says:

The Angels are awesome and tonight’s episode was awesome! The show clearly prematurely canceled.

Hopefully Whitney can move to Wednesdays where its doing better in repeats at.

  23. Julie says:

That had to be the best episode of Big Bang this season! I nearly peed in my shorts! Laurie Metcalf deserves an Emmy nomination for this episode she was SO awesome! My only regret is that Mrs Cooper didn’t get to interact with Amy. That would have been so cool I’m sure!
