The TVLine-Up: TV Worth Watching This Thursday

On TV this Thursday: Sheldon has a mother of a problem, CBS reveals its Engagement, it’s cloudy in Philadelphia, and NBC’s rife with repeats. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features and reporting, here are 13 programs to keep on your radar.

7:30 pm World Series, Game 2 (Fox) | Game 1 was still underway as I wrote this, but I predict that come Thursday night, one of the teams will be trying to gain a 2-0 advantage while the other looks to even things up. (I took math, you see.)

8 pm Charlie’s Angels (ABC) | Don’t scoff, because you know how it goes: Show gets canceled, then suddenly the episodes get, like, really good. John Terry (aka Lost‘s Christian Shephard) guest-stars as Abby’s (Rachael Taylor) estranged and imprisoned Wall Street tycoon father.

8 pm The Vampire Diaries (The CW) | Senior year is here, and while those who are students theoretically attend classes, Damon is annoyed by a new house guest while Stefan continues to carry out his latest assignment from Klaus.

8 pm The Big Bang Theory (CBS) | Sheldon has trouble “sharing” his mom (returning guest star Laurie Metcalf) when she comes to visit.

8:30 pm Rules of Engagement (CBS) | Season 6 opens with Russell desperate to get out of his marriage to Liz (Bridesmaids‘ Wendi McLendon-Covey), while Jeff eavesdrops on Adam and Jen for pointers on how to talk dirty to Audrey.

Grey’s Anatomy Exclusive: Gossip Girl Schemer to Heat Up McSteamy’s Love Life

9 pm Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) | In addition to the Arizona-Mark fun…. Blackballed Meredith uses Lexie to spark Derek’s interest in her patient’s rare brain tumor and secretly helps April with Bailey’s clinical trial. Lee Majors (Six Million Dollar Man) and Marilu Henner (Taxi) guest-star.

9 pm Miss Representation (OWN) | In this two-hour special, influential women such as Condoleezza Rice, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Margaret Cho, Rosario Dawson and Gloria Steinem offer an inside look at the media’s often negative and sexual depiction of women.

9 pm Person of Interest (CBS) | The Machine coughs up the number of a judge (David Costabile aka Breaking Bad‘s Gale Boetticher) who will have nothing to do with Finch and Reese’s form of vigilante justice.

9 pm The Secret Circle (The CW) | When Faye’s ex (10 Things I Hate About You‘s Chris Zylka) returns to town, the Resident Bad Girl conspires to conjure up some payback, while the handsome visitor irks Adam by setting his sights on Cassie.

Secret Circle Preview: Adam and Cassie Struggle Against ‘Fate’! Plus Scoop on the New Guy

10 pm The Mentalist (CBS) | Rigsby worries that dating a pretty public defender will create awkwardness between him and Van Pelt. Ya think?

10 pm Private Practice (ABC) | While Cooper (and, presumably, Charlotte!) deal with the 8-year-old bombshell this Erica chick just dropped, Addison treats a patient who is eight-and-half-months pregnant and suffering from severe memory loss. (She thinks she merely had a big dinner at Cheesecake Factory.)

10 pm It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX) | The mother of all storms has everyone in a panic. Well, everyone ‘cept Frank, that is.

10:30 pm The League (FX) | Ruxin hires a hot au pair (United States of Tara‘s Brie Larson), then worries that Taco will try to tap that.
