Happy Endings Exclusive: Party Down's Ken Marino Set to Play [Spoiler]'s Shrink

The doctor is in on Happy Endings, and he’s a riot!

Uproarious Party Down grad Ken Marino is joining the criminally underrated ABC comedy as therapist to Zachary Knighton’s Dave, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The potentially recurring character debuts in early 2012 and, even though he’s Dave’s shrink, we’re told Marino’s doc will interact with the entire group — particularly Casey Wilson’s Penny.

Marino’s a busy guy these days. In addition to his regular gig on Adult Swim’s Childrens Hospital, the actor known to Veronica Mars fans as Vinnie Van Lowe is also set to guest star as Chris D’Elia’s older brother on NBC’s Whitney.

  • I’m loving HE so far, but the Megan Mullaly was the worst episode of the series. However, it’s the best comedy on ABC, better than CT, of course!

    • I liked that episode. “We’re like the Gilmore Girls except we came first so we’re better.”

  • What’s the point of putting “Spoiler” in the title when you have a picture of what character it is on the post?

  • I like that you say spoiler in the title but put his photo next to Kens and have his name before the cut…

  • Anything to have Ken Marino on my tv screen. I loved him on VM, and Party Down, and I will suffer through any episodes of Whitney he is on.

  • Nice! On a sidenote, there’s no point putting “[Spoiler]” if you’re going to put a picture of the character in question right next to the article title. ;)

  • Ken Marino has been on a lot of funny shows, but I’ve never found him all that funny. Not really a criticism–he’s seldom been the one who was supposed to be funny. He’s usually the bland character that others circle around.

    • In “Role Models” he was hilarious.

  • This isn’t a big spoiler so it doesn’t really matter but in the future, putting the picture in the upper-right corner kind of defeats the purpose of the spoiler alert.

  • Not that under rated getting 7.5 million viewers and episode, there are shows doing worst out there.

  • Surprisingly, Ken Marino is getting better looking now that Party Down has ended…

I loved the Megan Mulally episode as Dana Hartz and I think now they should get a couple more of those funny guys on Happy Endings or New Girl. Both of these shows are a lot of fun!

(Still miss Party Down and Better Off Ted!!! Those shows were just too good to be gone so soon!)
