Scoop: Once Upon a Time Bewitched By Buffy Alum Emma Caulfield

Anya would be so proud!

Beloved Buffy the Vampire Slayer vet Emma Caulfield is venturing into the supernatural world once more — this time as an infamous fairy-tale staple on ABC’s Once Upon a Time (premiering Sunday, Oct. 23 at 8/7c)

Exclusive: Once Upon a Time Gets Lost With Alan Dale

TVLine has learned that the actress will play a role we first told you about, the “incredibly scary and frightening” Blind Witch from Hansel and Gretel, who appears in the ninth episode of the fantastical drama’s debut season. Caulfield excitedly revealed the news via Twitter on Monday.

The casting marks both Buffy and Life Unexpected reunions for the actress, who worked with Once consulting producer Liz Tigelaar on the latter and co-exec producer Jane Espenson on the former, making this news all the more sweet.

Once Upon a Time Taps True Blood Scene-Stealer Kristin Bauer van Straten as Evil Witch

Caulfield joins Once‘s already packed Season 1 guest cast that includes Kristin Bauer Van Straten (True Blood) as Maleficent, Alan Dale (Lost) as Prince Charming’s father, Jessy Schram (Falling Skies) as the beloved Cinderella, Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) as the sidekick to Lana Parrilla’s Evil Queen, and David Anders (The Vampire Diaries) as a small town doctor.

    • I was already excited. I wish they could find a way to make her a regular. Have her evil amulet break and make her learn to live as a blind non-witch or something :>

  • According to IMDB Patti Allan is playing the Blind Witch/Ms. Ginger. It is possible that Emma will have a different role or that IMDB is incorrect. But comparing the two I think Patti fits the bill of the blind old witch better.
