Cheers! ABC Comedy Pilot Reunites Kirstie Alley With Rhea Perlman

Get More: Casting News, News

Rebecca and Carla together again! Rhea Perlman is reuniting with her Cheers co-star Kirstie Alley on a potential new multi-camera comedy series, this time on ABC.

Perlman has closed a deal to co-star opposite Alley in Alley’s ABC pilot The Manzanis. The family comedy, written by sitcom veterans Marco Pennette and Dave Flebotte, stars Alley as Angela Manzani, an opinionated wife/mother who, along with her Italian-American family, moves to a quiet New Jersey neighborhood where they clash with their new, WASPy neighbors.

Perlman will play Angela’s mother in law Camille Manzani.

  • Oh my. This concept needs a lot of polishing before it gets any farther. The description above is way too broad to make it interesting.

    • Agreed! However, the idea of Kirstie returning to a sitcom is music to my ears :)

  • Rhea Perlman is only 3 years older than Kirstie Alley. Either Kirstie’s character is supposed to be some kind of cougar or Rhea Perlman should be really, really offended.

    • Well on Golden Girls, Estelle Getty was a year younger than Bea Arthur and yet she played her mother.
      It’s make-believe.

    • It said mother-in-law, not mother. I know someone who is four years older than his mother in law, because he married someone significantly younger. Its very possible.

  • I would be so happy to see Rhea Perlman on t.v. again! I’m not really a Kirstie Allen fan, though, but I’m willing to give the show a chance.

  • It’ll be nice to see Rhea again. I’ve been wondering how much she likes her husband’s work on It’s Alwasy Sunny in Philadelphia.
