Scoop: A Gifted Man Checks Out The Big C's John Benjamin Hickey

CBS’ A Gifted Man will be seeing a very special patient during November sweeps: Tony Award winner John Benjamin Hickey.

TVLine has learned that Hickey, who won his Tony this year for The Normal Heart and currently plays Sean on Showtime’s The Big C, will guest-star on the Eye’s supernatural-tinged medical drama as Ben, an upscale limo driver for an elite car service.

Ben has a condition that causes him to break into uncontrollable fits of rage that dissipate almost as quickly as they arrived, and what’s more he also is hiding a terrible secret. It is when he brings his son into the late(-ish) Anna’s Clinica Sonando that he decides he needs to be treated himself.

ER Alum Eriq La Salle Joins CBS’ A Gifted Man

Hickey’s other TV credits include guest gigs on The Good Wife, In Plain Sight and original Law & Order.

Now in its second week, A Gifted Man airs Fridays at 8.7c.

    • Yes, he is. I think he needs an Emmy for this season’s “Boo!” – his monologue about how he can’t be crazy was kind of heartbreaking.

  • He also starred, along with Christopher Sieber, in the short-lived comedy “It’s All Relative”.

    • Indeed! Ergo my use of the operative word “…other TV credits include…”

  • That’s funny how both Patrick and John are both Broadway actors and they both did a reading of The Normal Heart for a charity event and now they end up working together again on Patrick’s TV series A Gifted Man!
