Starz Renews Kelsey Grammer's Boss – Prior to Its Season 1 Premiere!

Get More: News, Premieres, Renewals

The wily Chicago mayor played by Kelsey Grammer has received Starz’s vote — of confidence.

Starz has renewed Grammer’s new drama Boss for a second cycle, ahead of it’s Oct. 21 series premiere.

Boss stars the Frasier alum as Tom Kane, a cutthroat Chicago mayor who is protecting dark secret that, if revealed, could ultimately destroy his career.

This isn’t the first time the cabler has pulled the trigger on an early pickup: Starz ordered a second installment of its flagship series Spartacus: Blood and Sand before its 2010 debut.

Production on Boss‘ second term is slated to begin in early 2012.

  • Hopefully this means Kelsey has found a stable post-Frasier program, after the likes of Hank and Back To You (Which should of never been cancelled) failed.

    • I adore, love and respect Kelsey Grammar. He’s the most brilliant, glorious American actor we have in this country! I’d watch him in anything available!

  • Kelsey Grammer should of stayed out of politics. IMHO
Ever since he became a mouthpiece for the Republican Party and is a regular on Fox News every show he has been on has tanked.

  • What does that say about Torchwood

  • Is Torchwood coming back? I certainly hope so.

    • From what I’ve seen reported, “Torchwood” will come back when and if Russel Davies wants to make more episodes. The ball is in his hands. Starz got the ratings it wanted but it is all up to Davies and whether he wishes it to continue on Starz.

  • The reason Torchwood wasn’t renewed was because this whole American thing was only supposed to be for a season. Starz has stated that the future of the series is completely with the creator.

  • Kelsey Grammer has his own show? Good luck with that (sarcasm).

  • The evil picture is pretty much what I think the painting in Kelsey Grammer’s attic looks like anyhow.
