Good Wife Exclusive: Michael J. Fox Returning For Multiple Episodes

It looks like Michael J. Fox will be back in the Emmy race next year: The actor is returning to The Good Wife this season for a sizeable run, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Fox — who was favored to take home the Guest Actor trophy at last weekend’s Creative Arts Emmys (but lost out to Paul McCrane from Harry’s Law) — will reprise his role as Alicia’s morally flexible nemesis Louis Canning for “three or four episodes,” executive producer Robert King confirms.

When last seen in the spring, Louis offered Alicia a full partnership in his new law firm, which she declined. There’s no word on what brings him back into the fold.

The Good Wife returns Sunday, Sept. 25 at 9/8c. (With reporting by Michael Maloney)

  • The only greater injustice than Michael J. Fox losing is that he lost it to Harry’s Law. Nothing against Paul McCrane, but COME ON!

    • Paul McCrane was spectacular on Harry’s Law. And I’m an MJF/Good Wife fanatic.

  • I haven’t seen season 2 of TGW yet, but I have a question: When Fox was on Boston Legal, his Parkinson’s-related movement was never addressed. Is it in this? Because, while I am wholly sympathetic to the struggles of the disease, it can make for a pretty hard “look-away-and-pretend-it’s-not-happening” situation.

    • Yes, it was. In the first case he tried against Alicia, he used it to get sympathy from the jury, hence the ‘morally ambiguous’ description.

  • Unfortunately, I think his medical condition and working for the Parkinson’s cause would make a full time gig difficult.

  • @Sam: Yeah, it is, but his character doesn’t have Parkinson’s. TGW refers to the disability as “dyskenisa.” Please forgive the spelling. I’m not a doctor.

  • That’s great news! Looking forward to more sparring scenes with Alicia. Did anyone catch MJF on “Curb your enthusiam”? One word: “hilarious”!

  • Good Wife seems to have a knack for terrific guest stars in general, but he’s definitely been among the best.
