Elena looks poised to celebrate her birthday — the event around which The Vampire Diaries‘ third season premiere revolves — in this sexy-slash-out there new promo from The CW.

Set to The Kills’ haunting “Damned If She Do,” the clip features Elena, Damon and Stefan gathered for some sort of blood-stained birthday “picnic,” where they are ultimately joined by Klaus.

Throughout, you get glimpses of feedings, writhing, carnal cavorting…. And did we mention some fine-looking chocolate cake?

  • Slight quibble with the styling of the promo–you can tell me that that’s Elena, but if I see wavy hair I will always think “Katherine.”

  • Oh this is fantastic. It looks like Tyler and Caroline are finally releasing all that pent up werewolf-vampire sexual tension. Also, the bloody cake? I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s really sexy. The promotion for this season has been absolutely awesome.

  • Am I the only one who wants Klaus to die this season? His appearance in all the promos is annoying. I know he’s the bad guy, and now a main character, but. . . shoot. Don’t shove him down my throat.

    • With you on this; I don’t get why all of a sudden he’s in a promo w/ the 3 main characters when that has NEVER happened until now in any promo. Sexiiiiiiness from the main’s though. I really wish they wouldn’t use so many recycled clips though; we should have seen more V3 stuff in the promo.
