Fall TV Preview

Scoop: Jay Mohr Banished to Suburgatory, to Recur as Cheryl Hines' Hubby

Gary’s unmarried days are over.

Jay Mohr is returning to the sitcom world with a major recurring role on ABC’s promising comedy Suburgatory, sources confirm to TVLine.

The Gary Unmarried star will play Steve Royce, the absentee husband of Cheryl Hines’ shallow, Red Bull-guzzlin’ kept housewife, Dallas.

Steve models his life after the two Donalds: Trump and Draper. In business, he’s a shark, which affords his family their elegant lifestyle. At home… well, he’s not really at home much. When it comes to monogamy, Steven and Dallas employ a “don’t ask, don’t tell” philosophy.

Suburgatory stars Jane Levy as the quintessential New York City teen whose life takes a “horrific” turn when she’s forced to relocate to the ‘burbs with her dad (Law & Order‘s Jeremy Sisto). It premieres Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 8:30 pm.

Isn’t Jay Mohr recurring on Prime Suspect as well? Busy guy.

Hopefully he can still find time to record his podcast, Mohr Stories. The best podcast on the web…

Didn’t he change his name to Mohr-Cox? LOL

  5. Lisa says:

Mohr-Cox or not he is difficult to watch.

    This show looks terrible

  7. John says:

I don’t know how “difficult it is to watch” Mohr but his podcast is hilarious and he’s a pretty experienced comic — if he’s given good lines I’d imagine he’d be great, especially on this snarky a show.

    The Slam Man!

    I agree with “Kevin”
