TNT Schedules Winter Runs for Leverage, Southland and Others, Sets Mystery Movie Slate

Building on this week’s unofficial theme of Cablers Announce Their Fall/Winter Plans, TNT on Tuesday revealed its winter return/premiere dates for four different series.

Leading things off: Leverage, which airs its summer finale this Sunday, will resume its fourth season on Nov. 27, with eight new episodes.

On Nov. 28, The Closer will return with what we will call Season 7.33, comprised of five episodes, followed by Rizzoli & Isles‘ Season 2.5 (also five eps).

Southland, meanwhile, is set to launch its fourth season on Jan. 17, 2012, with 10 fresh episodes — each and every one of them like salt in NBC’s wound.

TNT also announced that its Mystery Movie Night series of “contemporary procedural dramas” will launch Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 9/8c, with an adaptation of Scott Turow’s Innocent, starring Bill Pullman (Torchwood), Marcia Gay Harden (Damages) and Alfred Molina (Law & Order: LA).

  • Excellent news about Southland! NBC was very dumb to dismiss this show. (I just wish the rumor had been true about TNT picking up L&O:LA)

  • The Mystery Movie Night sounds really good. Looking forward to it and three of my favorite shows continuing, Leverage, The Closer, and Rizzoli & Isles.

    • “The Mystery Movie Night sounds really good. ”

I wonder if it’ll spin off any series, a la Columbo, McMillian and Wife, or McCloud?

What’s next, a contemporary throwback to Love, American Style?

      ;^)

  • Is Leverage correct? If it comes back in November with 8 new episodes, that would make this seasons episode count 18. Not that I mind more episodes, but all the press releases inititally said this season was 15.

    • Yes, 18 episodes is correct, the producers confirmed this a while ago. Actually, the cast has their last filming day of episode 18 today.

  • If Catherine Bell is on TNT how does that effect her Army Wives role?

    • Im assuming since its a made for tv movie it won’t effect her role on Army Wives…so excited for Southland! Cant wait but only 10 episodes makes me a little sad it will be done so quickly

      • It was reported that this movie with Catherine Bell is a potential backdoor Pilot for a new TNT series. I know she’s still under contract with Army Wives for next season, so this possible new show wouldn’t happen until late 2012 or early 2013…but only if Army Wives ends.

  • The only thing that would make the Leverage news better would be a return appearance of Wil Wheaton’s hacker character.
