TVLine Items: Lie to Me's Kelli Williams Visits Mentalist, ER Favorite Flies Pan Am, and More

Lie to Me alumna Kelli Williams has lined up a guest spot on The Mentalist‘s upcoming fourth season as a woman who once hired Simon Baker’s Jane during his days as a pretend psychic, reports TVGuide.com. The CBS drama returns Thursday, Sept. 22, with Williams’ episode slated for Oct. 6.

ER vet Goran Visnjic has landed a four-episode guest arc on the promising new ABC drama Pan Am. Per EW.com, he will play a Yugoslavian immigrant considering life out west.

Die Hard actor William Atherton will appear on the Oct. 3 installment of ABC’s Castle as a cryogenic freezing researcher happened upon by Rick and Beckett during a murder investigation, per TVGuide.com.

• You’ve heard it before, and now here it is again… albeit more officially: Our sister site Deadline reports that Mariah Carey is currently finalizing a deal to appear as a superstar mentor on Fox’s The X Factor (premiering Tuesday, Sept. 21).

• NBC’s Today is said to be reviving its fan fave segment, “Where In the World Is Matt Lauer?” According to TVNewser, the programming stunt, which finds the Today co-host in a different location every day for a week, will likely resume during November sweeps.

• Comedian Steve Harvey is reportedly developing a “comedy show with talk show elements,” with a fall 2012 launch slated, per The Hollywood Reporter.

• Rocker Dave Navarro has been tapped to host Spike TV’s Inkmaster, a new tattoo competition series set to bow in January 2012.

• A comedy co-written and starring funnylady Sarah Silverman sparked quite the bidding war among major networks, and has now landed at NBC, Deadline reports. Loosely based on the comedienne’s life, the potential series is said to have become the pet project of big screen mega-producer Ron Howard, whose Imagine TV is co-producing.

• OWN has announced its fall premiere dates: The Rosie Show and Oprah’s Lifeclass debut Monday, Oct. 10; new docu-series’ Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s and Don’t Tell the Bride launch Saturday, Oct. 15; and Ask Oprah’s All Stars, Our America with Lisa Ling, Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind begin Sunday, Oct. 16.
