Fall TV Preview

The Good Wife Exclusive: Parker Posey Cast as Eli Gold's [Spoiler Alert]!

Something tells me Alan Cumming had a hand in this casting.

The Good Wife actor’s sometime costar and real-life BFF Parker Posey has been tapped to play the never-before-seen estranged wife of his campaign strategist character Eli Gold, TVLine has learned exclusively.

With the introduction of Parker — who is slated to debut in an October episode — the puzzle that is Eli’s fractured nuclear family is now complete; viewers have already met the couple’s daughter Marissa (played by Sarah Steele).

The Good Wife Exclusive: Alicia’s Gay Bro is Getting a Boyfriend

Although Cumming and Posey have played together in the movies before — most notably in The Anniversary Party and Josie and the Pussycats — this will mark the pair’s first small screen collaboration.

Posey’s TV credits include Parks and Recreation, The Big C and the short-lived Amy Sherman-Palladino sitcom The Return of Jezebel James.

The Good Wife‘s third season kicks off Sunday, Sept. 25 at 9/8c.

  • Woo! Awesome casting news. Between Posey, Lisa Edelstein, Harvey Feierstein, and Eddie Izzard, Season 3 is going to have some friggin’ amazing guest stars. And I expect the guest casting is only going to keep on coming.

  • I first knew Parker Posey as Tess Shelby on As the World Turns (early 90s) and thought she was an awful actress! BUT…I’ve seen her in a jillion things since and loved her! Looking forward to her stint on The Good Wife!

  • I freaking love Parker Posey. She never disappoints. And I guess it’s been too long since I’ve seen The Anniversary Party, I can’t remember who she played in that movie. Time to find that again on Netflix.
