Exclusive: Without a Trace's Eric Close Locates Plum American Horror Story Role

American Horror Story has added another big TV name to its ranks.

Without a Trace alum Eric Close is joining the cast of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s upcoming FX thriller in a recurring role, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Close will play Hugo, a charming cad with matinee idol looks who appears in a series of circa ’80s flashbacks. (I’ll go out on a limb and speculate that Hugo once resided in the house of horrors at the center of the spookfest.)

The twisty Horror Story, which is slated to premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 5, boasts an all-star ensemble that includes Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, Jessica Lange, Denis O’Hare and Alexandra Breckenridge.

Close was most recently seen on the short-lived CBS procedural CHAOS.

  • Fantastic! I cant wait for this show. I hope it doesnt fail or get cancelled. Luckily being on cable the ratings dont have to be 12 million plus to get a second season pick up. I actually loved Chaos, but i also love about 70% of TV these days.

  • I’m the sad person that whenever I hear Eric Close’s name, I’m hoping its a reboot of my near favorite tv show of all time “Now & Again”.
