TVLine Items: Carell Is Laughing for Showtime, New Who Trailer, All-Star Top Models, and More

Former Office boss Steve Carell and fellow funny man David Steinberg are teaming with Showtime to deliver Laughing Stock, a new interview series that willprofile the cracking-wise likes of Tina Fey, Jerry Seinfeld, Judd Apatow and Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner.

Carell and Steinberg will exec-produce the series, with the latter also serving as host. A total of 10 half-hour episodes are targeted to air on early 2012.

Ready for more of today’s TV dish? Well…

• The CW has revealed the 14 America’s Next Top Model alumni who will be competing in the upcoming “all-star” season, premiering Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 9/8c. And they are: Shannon Stewart (Cycle 1), Camille McDonald (Cycle 2), Brittany Brower (Cycle 4), Lisa D’Amato (Cycle 5), Bre Scullark (Cycle 5), Bianca Golden (Cycle 9), Dominique Reighard (Cycle 10), Isis King (Cycle 11), Sheena Sakai (Cycle 11), Allison Harvard (Cycle 12), Laura Kirkpatrick (Cycle 13), Angelea Preston (Cycle 14), Kayla Ferrel (Cycle 15) and Alexandria Everett (Cycle 16).

• A trailer has been released for what is being dubbed “Season 6.2″ of Doctor Who, which premieres Aug. 27 both here and across the pond. Check it out:

• CBS is in “deep negotiations” with Martin Lawrence — aka TV’s former Martin — to star in and exec-produce a new comedy for the network, reports New York Magazine‘s Vulture blog.

• The wedding of reality star Kim Kardashian and NBA player Kris Humphries will be broadcast on — shocker! — E! Television. The two-part event, titled Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event, is set to air Sunday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c … and the following night at 9 pm. Yay?

• After six years with Access Hollywood, Greek goddess Maria Menounos has signed a deal with Telepictures to co-host Extra — which apparently is a different show? Per Deadline, MM’s pact also scored her on-air duties with Dr. Drew’s new daytime talker for The CW, LifeChangers.

There’s going to be some serious attitude in the Model House.

    • Lore says:

Lisa and Alexandra in the same house? this would not be called “all star” should be called There will be blood!!! i cant wait for the drama!!!!

    • Binx says:

I’m disappointed about the lack of cycle 6, 7, and 8 models. I started watching the show during cycle 5, so that’s three years of ladies I watched that won’t be coming back.

  5. Sourabh says:

I want to see how the Access Hollywood news can translate into material for Joel McHale.

  6. Rose says:

The DW trailer worked for me. Too bad it wasn’t very exciting. Maybe they are saving the good stuff for the 50th Anniversary in 2013.

Maria Menounos is another person hired for their looks despite having no talent. She’s been painfully bad when filling in at Today and the few stories she’s done for the NBC Nightly News have been failures.

Billy Bush was hired when his family was in politics. Now that they are gone, send this dumb Bush back with them. He’s also been horrible when on the Today Show. Not as horrible as his cousin George W’s daughter Jenna, but not even Maria Menounos is as bad as Jenna.

  7. Nichole says:

Brittany (Cycle 4) is still my all time fave. Glad to see she’s on board.
