Grey's Anatomy Exclusive: Season 8 Jumps Ahead [Spoiler Alert]

When Grey’s Anatomy opens its eighth season on Sept. 22, very little time will have passed since Derek and Meredith’s big falling out.

“We only pick up five days after the finale ended,” reveals executive producer Shonda Rhimes. “[Story-wise] we pick up pretty much where we left off.”

That means Der and Mer are far from resolving their marital crisis, which was further complicated by the new girl in their life, baby Zola. “Meredith and Derek have a lot of things to work out,” Rhimes stressed. “They have their personal relationship, they have their parenting relationship, and they have their work relationship.”

Meanwhile, Cristina has yet to act on her decision to terminate her pregnancy — a sign that perhaps she’s having cold feet. “Five days later and she still hasn’t gone and done it — why hasn’t she and what’s going on with her?” Rhimes muses. “The old Cristina would’ve had the abortion [already].”

The cliffhanger won’t remain unresolved for long, however. “By the end of the season premiere she has made her decision,” Rhimes confirms, “and it’s pretty set in stone what’s going to happen.”

Meredith screwed up. Everybody knows it. Honestly, in her shoes I would probably have done the same thing. Of course, given how much was riding on it, I would have denied the accusation (because lets face it, Alex didn’t actually see anything.) The placebo and drug treatments were randomized, so changing two labels would not affect the outcome.
From here, Richard & Derreck have two options. Either they can report the incident and fire Meredith, or sweep it under the rug and proceed as planned. The advantage of the first scenario is that while they run the risk of the trial shutting down, the impact on the hospital would be substantially reduced, and findings from the investigation could come back much more favorable. In the second scenario, the trial could keep running, but it would mean risking a whole lot more if the powers that be were to somehow find out (very likely given how many people know or suspect.)

All I can say is I LOVE Arizona and Callie together! I am soo glad they got thru everything that happened in season 7,had a baby, started their family and got married!!
I just hope the writers don’t mess with them to much! They are perfect together!

I’m honestly looking forward to season 8. I hope that it’s better than season 7, because without the Calzona/Mark story line, the Christina storyline, the small Dr.Bailey Story line and that fan freakin-fantabulous musical, then grey’s wouldn’t have been a hit to me…I felt bad for Adele getting sick and all but seeing a major part of the season being based around it kind of made me yawn-just a little bit. that story line didn’t start heating up(lukewarmly I might add) until towards the end. I didn’t get quite as upset if I missed Grey’s on a thursday night like I did if I missed Private Practice-I am a fan of both shows, but to me PPP won out over Grey’s last season. I mean you had the AddieSam relationship, you had Charlotte’s rape, you had Bizzy’s bizarre suicide, you saw Amelia reverting back to old drinking/drug habbits, you had Pete’s drama with his mom, you had Katie Kent’s return, you had Violet’s book drama, you had the fate of the practice in jepordy, you had the Besty drama, so on and so on add that to the incredible medical cases that happened thoroughout the season-with all of that going on every week, I couldn’t afford to miss it. I do look forward to seeing what’s going to happen with Meredith and Derek now that they have this little baby in their lives (it’s about DAMN time they got married-Just thought I’d add that!!!)I would like to see where Cristina and Owen’s relationship ends up(I personally hope it just ends) I’m dying to see April find a decent man and lose her damn virginity. I honestly hope that Teddy and Henry have a happy ending and can we please put to rest the Mark and Lexie thing this season??? I honestly do hope that the original cast decides to stay on an extra 2 seasons-I think if Grey’s Anatomy ended after season 8, there’d be so many storylines left untold, but if Grey’s went to season 10 then Shonda, the writers and the cast would be able to give us a proper ‘Goodbye’…Nothing lasts forever, I hope that this isn’t it for Grey’s but I do have a feeling that this season is probably ‘the beginning of the end’ for us Grey’s fans… :(

I think they are ok as a couple. I think Owen is better for Christina but at the same time, there is no balance. Owen has in the relationship let christina do what she wants to do, pushes her to do her best. I think Owen just had enough, and wanted to have a say in their relationship, that is why he was upset. He never got to have a voice in with christina’s pregnancy, Christina just made the decision on her own. They are married, so it is not as if they are just dating. She knows he wants the baby, but she didn’t discuss about the situation. I think by telling her to get out, it’s a wake up call to Christina that it’s not all right to do what she wants and thinks everything is fine. I think deep down she wants the baby but her focus and priority has always been about her work. and this past season, it shifts a little, so I think having the baby will get her more balance.
