Community Exclusive: Party Down Fan Fave Schools the Greendale Study Group

Roman DeBeers is ditching the catering biz for a gig at Greendale Community College.

TVLine has exclusively learned that funnyman Martin Starr will guest star in the third season of NBC’s Community (premiering Thursday, Sept. 22). When Jeff Winger and Co. venture into the fun-filled world of Model UN simulations, the Party Down scene-stealer pops up as their fearless poli-sci professor and project advisor. Starr may return to the quirky comedy later in the season, but as of now, it’s a one-off appearance in Episode 2.

I’m hearing this bit of casting came about after Community‘s Alison Brie began shooting her new movie, Save the Date, with the actor earlier this summer — a flick which just so happens to feature yet another Party alum, Lizzy Caplan.

Starr can currently be seen opposite Paul Scheer (The League) on Adult Swim’s new live-action procedural spoof, NTSF:SD:SUV.

  • If he’s a ‘poly-sci’ professor, does that mean that the Model U.N. is actually a giant plastic diorama rather than a meeting/debate?

    • I read that too and thought it looked, ah, wrong. Pretty sure it is “poli” as in political science. Not “poly” as in polygon. Right?

  • Love this a lot – you can never go wrong with a Party Down alum. Can Ken Marino play a prof too? He already played one on Dawson’s Creek many years ago…

  • I really miss Party Down, and having an alum on Community is amazing! What I wouldn’t give to see Roman in an argument with Abed about what constitutes “Hard Sci-Fi”.

    • That would be awesome, though I’ll take Lizzy anyway we can get her on the show. Imagine her as a sort of Britta clone, though more with it and snarky, a possible love interest for Abed perhaps
