Hot (Or Not?) Shot: Rob Lowe as Suspected Wife-Killer Drew Peterson

Get More: First Look

Last month, TVLine asked you: Is Rob Lowe too pretty to play Drew Peterson, the onetime police sergeant who in 2009 was charged with the murder of his third wife after authorities investigated the disappearance of Mrs. No. 4?

Well, now we may have conclusive evidence. got its hands on this first photo of Lowe, 47, costumed and made up to resemble the 57-year-old Peterson for Untouchable, a Lifetime thriller now filming in Los Angeles.

Per, it takes nine hours to transform the Parks and Recreation pin-up boy to… this.

In the Lifetime original, Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) plays Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy, who was 23 years old — — 30 years her hubby’s junior — at the time of her October 2007 vanishing.

  • Not fair to make Rob Lowe un-pretty!

    • Not only is it not fair, I’m pretty sure its a crime against humanity. We should be notifying the UN or something ;)

  • I know right! I know Rob is a fine actor and will do a great job as a hideous wives killer, but still. :(

  • Rob is “pretty” much unrecognizable in that picture!

  • Although they “unprettied” him, he still looks more attractive than the real guy. In other words, he’s still too pretty.

  • I don’t know what the real Drew Peterson looks like. Just how ugly is he? (But have to agree Rob still looks great here)

  • How do they get anything filmed if Rob has to spend 9 hours in makeup every day? But wow, what a transformation!

  • Why are two actors who are on critically-acclaimed network comedies doing a Lifetime movie? Isn’t this the resting place of Sarah Chalke’s career (RIP)?

  • Tim Allen would have been a better choice, as he strongly resembles Drew Peterson.

  • James Marsters (Spike) played a VERY compelling Ted Bundy… so this could work.

  • Why is there a movie about this idiot in the first place??

  • I would need to see him in the context of the movie to judge, but the shot looks a little low rent. I have seen lots of coverage of Peterson (I live in the Chicagoland area) and have had a former manager share his photos of ‘neighbor’ Drew Peterson (I think he lived three houses away) over a period of a few years — before any of the coverage. There is a resemblance in Lowe’s look, but it looks constructed and unnatural.
And ladyhelix…Mark Harmon did the best Ted Bundy. If you could dig him up and ask him, Bundy would agree all over again.

  • Reminds me of Reno 911

  • Rob Lowe is so wrong for this role, and no number of stupid mustaches are gonna make him look like Drew Peterson. I’d nominate Louis CK, Tim Allen, Mark Addy, Jim Belushi, or any number of lumpy guys who do not look like Rob Lowe.

  • So first Bradley Whitford is on The Good Guys with a mustache (and pulls it off quite well) and now Rob Lowe has a mustache in this movie. Both from The West Wing.

Rob Lowe is a good actor, but c’mon wouldn’t it have been easier to get someone that looks more like what you want before having to do 9 hours of makeup?

  • There must be something else that TV Land or… uh… TV Line knows about this that we don’t know. Who in their right mind would cast Rob Lowe that has a totally different facial/body structure? Maybe Lowe had a buddy who was doing this movie or something along those lines. Don’t get me wrong though, Lowe will do a fantastic job.

  • Is this a joke? He looks nothing like the real guy and pretty absurd.

  • It seems horribly flattering to Peterson by choosing someone handsome like Rob to play him, let alone make a movie about him. But perhaps they wanted Rob to make his character charming; since Drew supposedly had that appeal despite that he’s actually ugly. I feel weird for saying this because he’s made up to look like this suspected murderer, but I think Rob looks good with white hair. He’ll age to be a handsome old man haha
