TVLine Items: AMC Alum Heads to Days, Project Runway Slots Summer Premiere, and More!

Former All My Children leading lady Sydney Penny has found a (temporary) new home in Salem.

The fan fave is set to join NBC’s Day of Our Lives for a seven-episode stint this summer, timed to the exit of co-star Crystal Chappell, TV Guide Magazine reports. Penny will play a doctor at the rehab clinic treating Carly’s drug addiction.

The Emmy-winning actresses’ arc begins airing Aug. 30.

Ready for more of today’s TV dish? Well…

• Lifetime’s Project Runway kicks off its ninth season Thursday, July 28 at 9/8c. Episodes will maintain their 90-minute format, with Christina Ricci (Pan Am), Zoe Saldana (Avatar), and Malin Akerman (Watchmen) set to serve as guest judges.

• Everyone’s favorite reality hostess, Cat Deeley, has landed her own Yahoo OMG! web series, per The Hollywood Reporter. Starting this Wednesday, the So You Think You Can Dance emcee will headline the fashion-based In the Dressing Room With Cat Deeley.

• HBO is teaming with Oscar-winning scribe Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) and The Office‘s John Krasinski on a new miniseries about famed Hollywood hotel The Chateau Marmont, reports Deadline. • Following a strong Season 4 premiere showing Tuesday night, truTV has ordered a fifth installment of its docu-series Hardcore Pawn.

  • Thanks for covering the soaps ! I am glad that SP is returning to tv even if it is just temporary.

By the way, has any one else read that article where ABC is refuseing offers to sell AMC and OLTL. It is a report from soap opera network. soaps.com has a story about it as well. I think we need to keep the postest going.
