ABC Renews Wipeout For Season 5, Taps Vanessa Minnillo as New Co-Host

Vanessa Minnillo is preparing for a major Wipeout.

ABC has announced that the off-the-wall competition series will return for a fifth season with one big change: Former MTV VJ Minnillo is the new co-host, replacing Jill Wagner. John Anderson and Jon Henson are sticking around as Wipeout‘s witty hosts.

“We will miss Jill, but are thrilled to welcome Vanessa to the team and excited to bring her enthusiasm to the show,” Wipeout creator Matt Kunitz said in a statement. “She is a great host with a fun and natural energy that our viewers will love.”

The fifth season of the reality show with the biggest balls (see what we did there?) will be divided into separate winter and summer installments during the 2011-12 season. Meanwhile, the fourth season premieres June 23 after a sneak peak on June 21.

    • Not a happy camper here either. :( I’m glad the guys are staying, but Jill always had the best reactions to the contestants.

      • The falls are getting old and I don’t even bother to listen to much of the John-patter anymore. Losing Jill has the possibility of making me grow completely bored with the show.

  • The Australian Wipeout has far superior hosts. Could we bring them in? Please?

  • New twist: At the end of the show, contestants are informed that the winner is not the fastest, but the one who treated the obstacles with compassion.

    • Hah! She’ll be talking to the contestants from a secret room along with Beth Stern and Carson whatever his last name is. :-)

I’ll certainly enjoy her more on this show then on True Beauty.

  • I like the Chinese one on Spike(I think)more than Wipeout. I think the hosts are more funny and also the obstacles are better.

  • I don’t know how old she is but she has always looked like an old woman. I don’t watch this stupid no brain show. Is this a step up or a step down for her? Take what you can get I guess. Someone has to support the family.

    • I heard that she wants to focus on her acting career. Just wish there was a way for her to do both :(

  • According to various web sites (clip-n-paste), “Her leaving the show was entirely her decision as she wants to focus more on her acting career. Wagner told TV Guide Magazine,”

  • I am SO NOT happy with the new co-host. Saw the first episode of the Winter Wipeout and Vanessa is NOT a good co-host. She seems fake and her facial expressions are nothing but annoying.
Jill was awesome as a co-host. Personable, funny, relatable. Everything that Vanessa is not.
Wasn’t even enjoyable to watch! The Wipeout execs need to find somebody more like Jill and dump Vanessa like last weeks trash!!

  • Just watched the Deck the Balls episode, wow, Vanessa really sucks, she’s trying to hard to be funny, her facial expression and demeanor are so fake. This will be the last episode i will watch. Good luck to Jill on her future endevour, she’s pretty and funny at the time, she’ll make it.
