The TVLine-Up: TV Worth Watching This Week

Coming to your screen this week: Eight premieres, three finales, a trio of award shows, and a Bones encore that changed the game (before the game truly got changed). As but a supplement to the awesome features and original reporting TVLine has coming your way, here are 34 programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm MasterChef (Fox) |
Season 2 premiere: One hundred amateur cooks hit L.A. with the dream of becoming chefs. I type this as I prepare a banana with peanut butter for dinner.
8 pm My Yard Goes Disney (HGTV) | Series premiere: Landscapers give back yards elaborate Disney themes. For an extra grand, they’ll freeze grandpa in a block of ice.
9 pm Switched at Birth (ABC Family) | See our Summer TV Snapshot here.
10:30 pm United States of Tara (Showtime) | With Max and Marshall heading home, Tara scrambles to rid the house of all traces of Bryce.

8 pm Inside the Actors Studio (Bravo) |
The adult cast of Modern Family braves Mr. Lipton’s imperious index cards. (WATCH CLIP)
9 pm White Collar (USA Network) | Who do you think gifted Neal with the U-boat treasure? Gotta be Moz, right? Whatever the case, expect the fallout to return Neal’s white collar to shades of grey. “We’d softened him up a little too much, got him a little too close to the FBI,” series boss Jeff Eastin admits of recent arcs. “Let’s take him back to the bad boy he always has been.”
9 pm The Voice (NBC) | The quarterfinal performance round kicks off, live!
9 pm NBA Finals, Game 4 (ABC) | Remember the Mavs/Heat/kitchen joke I made last week? I’m still laughing.
9 pm Red Sox at Yankees | This rivalry always reminds me of attending games as a kid, where the walk through the Stadium tunnel introduced me to so many colorful and new expletives.
10 pm Covert Affairs (USA Network) | When last we tuned in, Annie’s beau Ben had been riddled with bullets. Prepare for a twist.
10 pm The Good Wife (CBS) |This is a repeat of one of my fave Season 2 eps, featuring a masseuse and a Nobel Prize winner.

8 pm CMT Music Awards (CMT) |
Kid Rock hosts, while performers include Rascal Flatts, Lady Antebellum and Sugarland.
8 pm So You Think You Can Dance (Fox) | Callbacks in Vegas, as the kids vye for the Top 20.
9 pm Modern Family (ABC) | Repeat No. 1: James Marsden guest stars. Repeat No. 2: The Dunphy van gets a makeover that makes Claire very popular.
9 pm Criminal Minds (CBS) | Now that you know Paget Brewster’s coming back, revisit this episode teasing her and Ian Doyle’s past.
10 pm Locked Up Abroad (NetGeo) | Season premiere: In “The Real Goodfella,” mobster-turned-informant Henry Hill shares his saga.
10 pm South Park (Comedy Central) | Season finale: When Stan turns 10, the fabric of the town begins to unravel.

8 pm So You Think You Can Dance (Fox) |
Ladies and gentlemen, your Top 20!
9:30 pm Parks and Recreation (NBC) | Chris’ system literally gets infected with a “grain of sand.”
10 pm Love Bites (NBC) |Guest stars Michelle Trachtenberg (Gossip Girl), Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond), Kurtwood Smith (CHAOS?) and Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under)… double the viewership.

8 pm Bones (Fox) |
Brennan’s delving into the ended life of a brilliant — and lonely — female scientist prompts her to feel out Booth’s feelings. Do you think those two will ever…? Nahhh.
9 pm 5th Annual Guys Choice (Spike TV) | Meaning, this has been on four times prior? Where was I? From what I’ve gleaned, it’s as if Maxim got Details pregnant and their baby was an award show.
10 pm Camelot (Starz) |Season finale: As Arthur and his men battle for renewal their lives, Sybil and her followers head to Camelot with Morgan.

8 pm iParty With Victorious (Nickelodeon) |
The “biggest TV event of the summer” merges the casts of iCarly and Victorious. But fret not, parents…
8 pm The Caine Mutiny (TCM) | While the kiddies are watching the above, gr’ups can kick back with this classic Bogart pic. Strawberries!
9 pm Doctor Who (BBCA) | River Song has a message for the good Doctor, as the midseason finale airs. Watch preview.
9 pm Ice Road Terror (Syfy) | “What if Ice Road Truckers met The Thing?” That question apparently was raised at a Syfy development meeting a few months back.
10 pm McEnroe/Borg: Fire & Ice (HBO) | This special looks at the 1970s, on- and off-court rivalry between John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg. What, my childhood idol Jimmy Connors is chopped liver?
10 pm Battlestar Galactica (BBCA) | BBC America is rerunning all 80 hours from the beginning, starting here with the two-part miniseries.

8 pm 65th Annual Tony Awards (CBS) |
Neil Patrick Harris hosts; anything from Book of Mormon gets tragically censored.
9 pm The Glee Project (Oxygen) | This competitive reality series will ostensibly discover new stars for the Fox hit — where they’ll share a storyline with the new fundamentalist Christian female and Mercedes’ R&B boyfriend?
10 pm The Protector (Lifetime) | Ally Walker (Sons of Anarchy) fronts this new series as a divorced homicide detective. Tisha Campbell-Martin (My Wife & Kids) plays her partner.
10 pm Treme (HBO) | Annie gets jitters about performing her new song when Davis’ band debuts.
10 pm The Killing (AMC) | Did everyone watch Mireille Enos’ Emmy reel last night? Coming up next: A connection is revealed between Rosie Larsen and a certain website. Fine, you got us — TVLine once let her blog Pretty Little Liars.

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

It was interesting this week to find out Paget Brewster was FORCED back onto CM.I feel bad for her.She is so good.CM should respect her and let her walk but respect for actors is something CM showrunners have no clue about…Have you ever seen a good show shoot itself in the foot like CM?…The Killing has been very good.As long as Forbes isn’t crying…This weeks BONES is a must see for those who missed it.

    • DL says:

As far as I understand, it was part of the most recent contract she signed. She had two choices: return for a full season, or do an abbreviated season with the option to do a pilot that would take first position if it went to season. Since her pilot didn’t go to season, her contract probably dictates that she go back to CM. If she’d wanted to, she could have walked away from the negotiating table completely a la Lisa Edelstein, but she didn’t. Better to be an actor with a job, I’d say.
I think if anyone deserves our sympathy, it’s Rachel Nichols, who only found out she was losing her role on the show from internet sites like our very own TVLine. Real classy, CBS!

      • Renee says:

Seriously? That’s how she found out? That is just WRONG. Woman did nothing wrong. She entered a bad situation and a badly written story, but it was not her fault.

  2. Jack says:

Game of Thrones not listed for Sunday?

  3. Rachel says:

I can’t believe Doctor Who is ending now for the summer, there have only been like 5 episodes so far! And this season is turning out to be MUCH better than the last. Neil Gaiman’s episode was amazing, and I can’t wait to find out more about River!!

  4. sarah says:

I can’t believe Canada and America staggered their Doctor Who episodes, especially since the big mid-season finale has already aired in the UK.

  5. Carol A says:

I cannot wait for White Collar Season Premiere and all the shows to follow. It is my # show on TV right now.

  6. Geordiegirl1967 says:

Can’t wait for White Collar. I love that show.

  7. Chuck says:

Sorry, but the e-mail that got me to come here was a tease — “Scoop Alert: Red Hot White Collar” — and all that you’ve got is “Who do you think gifted Neal with the U-boat treasure?” And you guess Moz? That’s all you’ve got? Where’s the scoop?

  8. Punstressak says:

I think the scoop was Neil’s going to be more of a bad boy. Which is a shame, I liked seeing him go more legit. As for The Glee Project, Mercedes already has a boyfriend; she and Sam were holding hands on the season finale.

  9. fernando says:

Single Ladies: This show is a (MUST WATCH, LisaRay & Charity Shea together makes a great cast, I still need to warm up to VAL shes okay but Apirl and Keisha are my girls, Sex and the city in Atlanta lol!

I also will give ep. 2 of Teen Wolf a chance, the pilot was a little boring but I think in time it can make great tv.

It’s that time again Covert Affiars, I missed the last 3 ep. but im still going to watch.

Love Bites: I love this show and yes I hope ep. 2 will bring more scene time for Beckki.

  10. Renee says:

I’m looking forward to Covert Affairs. Auggie hooked me.

  11. Kelly says:

With all the stuff that is going to happen in the next Game of Thrones, how can it not be listed?

  12. lolo says:

oh, that is one very powerful bones epi. really well done and great acting by emily deschanel aha, i love the little joke; “Do you think those two will ever…? Nahhh” made my day. :)

  13. Alex says:

So excited for White Collar, definitely my favorite summer show!

Love the snark about The Glee Project. Like Glee really needs more cast members.

I’m confused by the “Glee- for your Emmy consideration” ads lining the page. The last time I checked, the fans didn’t vote for Emmy nominations, and Glee without a doubt suffered some creative problems this season, while its main competitor, Modern Family, soared.

  14. Amber says:

Season finale of South Park already???? Didn’t it just come back on the air a month ago??
