Emmys 2011: Sizing Up the Supporting Comedy Actor Race, Including Our Dream Nominees

There are few certainties about the 2011 Emmys derby, but rest assured this is one of them: if you’re a male performer on a sitcom not called Modern Family, you face an uphill battle elbowing your way into the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series race. Even without a nod for patriarch Ed O’Neill last year, ABC’s hit comedy accounted for half of all the category’s nominations. So the question this year isn’t whether the Family men will make another strong showing — they will — but rather who’ll snap up the remaining spots. Here’s how things look going into nomination season.

Are you people all blind and deaf? Chris Colfer deserves this, hands down, no competition

Rico Rodriguez from American family. This kid should win worst actor of the century. I’ve never seen anyone over act more than him. His expressions and intonation seem more fit for a eulogy then they do a comedy TV series. The way he tents his fingers like mr burns, or the way tilts his head like a confused dog drive me insane. Everything he does seems more like its his obnoxious, pretentious personality than what Manny would be like. He’s a spoiled rotten brat and needs to go. Id like to see just one serious episode of Modern Family, (which by the way is one of my favorite shows) where they take a trip to the grand canyon and Manny falls in. On the way down to his TV death maybe some of his acting would be appropriate. I doubt it though. He would over act that as well. The reason he is so chubby is from chewing all that scenery.
