Idol Finale Feud Rages On: Nigel Says Lee Lied! How Did DeWyze Respond?

TVLine’s team of accountants has just reported in and it’s official: Lee DeWyze has officially made more headlines in the past 36 hours than in the preceding year since he was crowned American Idol, now that series boss Nigel Lythgoe has continued his Twitter feud with the seemingly (?) snubbed singer.

Addressing DeWyze’s claim that he was not asked to appear on-stage at Wednesday’s Season 10 finale until “about two minutes” beforehand — and that is why he declined the invite — Lythgoe on Friday morning tweeted, “True, he wasn’t asked to sing, but Lee knows he was asked to present the trophy [to the new Idol] a week before.”

DeWyze took the high road with his latest response to Lythgoe’s account, stating that he has “no hard feelings towards Nigel, Idol, or anyone else.” Continues the former champ, “I love music, and that’s what I’m going to focus on. I support American Idol and all it has done for me. I respect the decisions made for the Finale, and hope all’s well that ends well”

The Idol boss himself indicates he has said all he wants to on the matter, saying: “I don’t wish to continue the @leedewyze story.”

Lythgoe started the war of tweets the morning after Idol‘s Season 10 capper, saying he was “so upset Lee DeWyze wouldn’t present the winners trophy to Scotty [McCreery].” DeWyze claimed that although he was there in the audience, Lythgoe didn’t ask him to participate in the baton-passing until the last minute.

“I didn’t feel a last-second jump on stage was appropriate,” the singer said. “It was Scotty’s moment.”

Lee was expendable as nigel moves toward a younger audience and try to compete with DWTS (1 day 22.o milllion 4 out 6) and The Voice and X-Factor. Lee can beconme a judge on X-FActor as revenge.

  2. Jenny says:

Nigel accused Lee of lying but Nigel is an even greater liar. The whole rosy family concept of AI is a lie. Its no for the contestant. You don’t make the money, you don’t listen to TPTB, then you are shown the cold room. I have supported idol all these years and now I feel cheated by Nigel and his team.

No reining Idol winner, to my memory, has ever been on stage when the new Idol has been crowned or handed them a trophy so what’s the big deal?
