American Idol Top 3 Performance Night: Who's Going to the Finale? Who Will Fall Short?

Not to get all Randy Jackson on you — because that would be downright felonious — but “WE GOT ANOTHER CLOSE ONE RIGHT HERE!” Indeed, with the American Idol Top 3 results show less than 24 hours away, it’s impossible to predict with any certainty which of the remaining combatants — Haley Reinhart, Lauren Alaina, and Scotty McCreery — will advance to next week’s Season 10 finale. There were several lovely performances — Haley physically stumbling but vocally soaring on a Led Zeppelin ditty; Lauren showing some radio readiness in the “Jimmy Iovine selects” round; Scotty stretching his vocals a little further on a Kenny Rogers track — that ought to get the contestants’ fan bases activated, but nothing so radical or show-stopping that it’s likely to cause any last-minute conversions, either.

I’ve got a full recap to write (as well as a raging fever and sore throat!), so I’ll save the rest of my opinions for my full episode recap, which will post overnight here at TVLine.com. [UPDATE: Full recap is now liiiiive!] Until then, let’s review tonight’s set list:

Scotty McCreery: Lonestar’s “Amazed”
Lauren Alaina: Faith Hill’s “Wild One”
Haley Reinhart: Led Zeppelin’s “What Is and What Should Never Be”
Scotty McCreery: Thompson Square’s “Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not”
“16-Year-Old” Lauren Alaina: The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young”
Haley Reinhart: Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon”
Scotty McCreery: Kenny Rogers’ “She Believes in Me”
Lauren Alaina: Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance”
Haley Reinhart: Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know”

And with that, I turn it over to you.
