Ratings: The Voice Lowers, Raising Hope Rises

NBC’s The Voice spoke a bit softer as it launched its “Battle Rounds” this Tuesday night, dropping 17 percent in both total audience (to 10.3 million viewers) and in the demo (with a 4.6 rating).

That said, the freshman singing competition still topped the night in the coveted 18-49 demo, besting even Fox’s Glee (which with a 3.6 was down a few percentage points).

Elsewhere this Tuesday:

8/7c | NCIS tied Dancing With the Stars as the night’s most watched program, drawing 17.1 million total viewers, but dipped 3 percent to a season low 3.5 rating. Glee‘s prom, as mentioned, slipped in the demo but gained a few hundred viewers (hitting 9.1 mil). One Tree Hill (1.4 mil/0.6) was up a tick in audience and matched last week’s demo.

CBS Tuesday Dramas In Review: Boom, Boom, Boom!

9/8c | DWTS (17.1 mil/3.2) was tops in viewers and in the demo, as NCIS: LA (14.7 mil/2.8) matched last week’s numbers. Fox’s not-canceled Raising Hope (5.5 mil/2.2) was up 11 percent in viewers and surged 22 percent in the demo. Hellcats… broke a million viewers. So there’s that.

Fox Cancels Lie To Me, Human Target and Three Others

10/9c | The Good Wife led the hour in viewers (with 11.6 mil) but placed third in the demo (dropping 17 percent to a 2.0). ABC bubble show Body of Proof (10.3 mil/2.1) matched The Voice‘s audience and inched up 5 percent in the demo.

  1. Sam says:

When this show returns for next season, they need to get rid of Carson Daly. Could they find a less charismatic host? Ryan Seacrest may be annoying sometimes, but at least he’s not asleep half the time.

  2. I’m sorry I couldn’t understand anything you just said. I was overwhelmingly distracted by that image of Carson Daly. he looks like he just had a run in with that girl from The Ring. #terrifying

  3. Deena says:

Sure it was down with all the pre finale episodes!

  4. Jenn says:

I think Body of Proof and The Good Wife have a significant over 49 viewership. I think the demos need to change. People are living much more active lives well into their 70s and 80s now, and they are still out there buying goods and services. The advertisers/network execs need to put more focus on that “baby boom” generation.

  5. Sue says:

The Voice needs to go back to an earlier time slot! 10PM is too late for those that don’t have DVR’s and need to get up early for work.

  6. Michelle R. says:

I continue to really like The Voice. I liked how the decision was between 2 performers at a time and the choices actually seemed difficult.

  7. Fernando says:

    I love body of proof

  8. Jason S. says:

I knew the 10PM start time would cause a drop in the ratings. How do you have a family show at 10PM. Huge mistake on NBC’s part. They should have placed it at 8PM and put biggest loser back to 9 PM. How do you finally get a huge hit by creating a genius show with a genius cast and screw it up by that stupid a programming move.

  9. NickC says:

Is it me or is ABC just for women? Most of their shows seem like they could be on LIFETIME…As for GLEE.That show will continue to fall until it evens out at its core fan base.Like many shows that catch the hype wave.

    • Mel says:

I couldn’t agree more about Glee. I used to the love the show, but now I’m watching out of a sense of obligation for this season. When it rolls around next fall, it’ll be without me, and I’m sure, many others.

  10. Michael says:

4.6 for 10PM is actually quite the feat. WOW O_O
